there's no question okla is an excellent team and are perhaps overall the best team lsu has played. they will move the ball and score. however,
lsu has beaten 5 teams with a defense ranked higher in fpi than okla
okla has beaten 1 team with a defense ranked higher in fpi than lsu
lsu will be by far the best team okla has faced. okla will be slightly better than fla, aub, bama, uga. i think lsu's d gets just enough stops for the offense to outscore okla

Part of me is nervous because it’s their 4th playoff trip and they are 0-3. Just the law of averages tells you Lincoln will get one eventually and have the balls bounce his way

Contain Hurts (remember Louisville?)

Thank you for your thesis which for all the time you spent on it the only things you brought new to the table that the public didn’t already know were your final score prediction and the fact that your wife graduated from a big 12 school and you live in Austin. What do you know, that was three things we didn’t know.
The rest is common knowledge but thanks for reiterating it for everyone. If you want to type less next time try;
My score prediction is 47-31 LSU and my wife graduated from a big 12 school and we live in Austin.
See how easy! With that one sentence everyone knows exactly the same as your thesis, just sayin.

IMy daughter goes to OU. Went to two games, Texas Tech and TCU. Agree with everything. Watched every game, though.
They play well between the 20's but get tight and play nervously in the Red Zone. Leftover lack of confidence from last year's awful defense? Maybe. I think LSU attacks the end zone hard inside the 20's to great success.
Overall, it boils down to containing Jalen. The OL isn't near the talent of LSU's front men, but he is slippery, built like a linebacker and tough to tackle. When he is getting tackled, though, he doesn't protect the ball well and that's his weakness.

You wasted way more words than I did. But by all means, continue being miserable.

lol, actually no I did not. I might have wasted a bunch but you could add this post and the other post and I still don’t add up to your waste. But that is ok, if it makes you feel better we will just agree with you and tell you to drink your milk and cookies before you go to bed.

Most of our fans haven't watched OU outside of 1-2 games this year. The OP was just laying out some things to look for and know about our opponent. I would suspect most people appreciate the insight. If you don't feel like reading it, go knit a quilt or play in the street.

I also had trouble with 'sick.'

Make hurts force passes and create turnovers. I've watched a good bit of OU games this year and I'm def impressed with what Lamb can do but Hurts doesn't scare me under Riley.
Nothing against OU I just feel this game is playing right into LSUs hands. The injuries for the Sooners will affect the rotation and cause a lapse or few.
I honestly think the 2nd half will be LSU doing as they like. First half I expect OU to possibly lead for a drive.
Lsu prevails
48-34

They run a power spread offense this year. Everything out of the shotgun, usually one man in motion across the formation. They run a lot of the stuff we've seen all year - RPO based game.
They run a GT counter-trey running scheme and, like Ole Miss, they use two running backs with the QB. I’ve heard a few analysts describe it as a spread triple option so an RPO with a twist. With a QB like Hurts, it’s damn effective. Riley is the best offensive mind we’ve faced this season.

We don’t run much misdirection.
OU is going to score their share.

This is a very excellent and spot on analysis as I to have also watched some of their games this year.
Defensive, they love, I mean love, to blitz the safeties. Check downs to the running backs will be key. The screen game should be utilized a good bit as well.
Offensively, as OP alluded they run a triple option attack but it's different that what you think. They bring Lamb in motion across the field and Jalen runs an RPO. He can hand off the ball, keep it, or through laterally to Lamb.
This specific formation is where almost all of their trick plays are run.
Instead of having a corner run sideline to sideline I'd drop one of our safeties so that he's immediately ready to take on Lamb.
They'll run this play at least 10-15 times.
It's important that we contain hurts. We don't need to blitz him every play because then he'll just take off running.
I'd also 100% prefer Stephens or Delpit spying on Hurts. No offense to Queen but Hurts has some wheels. Our linebackers should be 100% focused on stopping and clogging the running backs. Whichever safety is not spying on Hurts is playing on top of Lamb providing a net and double coverage.
I'd much rather let no name receivers have catches than lamb.
