I say all of this to illustrate that we are nearing the end of this run in LSU history. I think LSU has some inherent advantages in college football and we will be back. But we will not be back under Miles and it could be many years before we realistically compete for a national title again.
It has been a great ride and it sucks that it is over....but make no mistake, it is over.
Miles is now in the twilight of his career here at LSU. The next 5-7 years will be a slow, Fulmeresque decline although not as precipitous. As Miles gets older and LSU's fortunes erode, he will not be considered an attractive coaching candidate for another school. The dynamics of the SEC and especially the West have changed. We had a good 15 year run.

We've been on the decline since 2005 and it's just going to keep going down. Don't kid yourselves guys. Even if we win the rest of the games or win the National title next year we are still on a downward trend and always have been.

The dynamics of recruiting for LSU have changed dramatically in the past 2-3 years, and not in our favor
That's pretty much the whole fricking deal for us too, because we sure as hell ain't outcoaching anybody

If that's the case, maybe the tickets will get a little cheaper.

Choctaw. No matter how much we win we will always be in the decline.

The only decline that is real is the amount of fans on the bandwagon.

quote:It is going to claim it's next victim, Les Miles of LSU. Coaches who don't stem this tide, even though it may give what appears to be a recruiting advantage, discover it has teeth and will bite you and your team as youth just does not have the maturity or leadership skills that it takes to compete at the top levels of college football for long. The spiral has begun.
Early NFL attrition killed Bobby Bowden, Spurrier at Florida, Urban Myer at Florida, Phil Fulmer at UTenn and even Pete Carroll at USCw.
quote:I suspect he sees the difference. But Nick Saban is currently astride all coaches in intensity and coaching savvy. And Alabama is, well... Alabama. Great record at LSU and all, Les Miles does not breathe that rarefied air. And maybe he is the best we can do, but... I'm thinking he's reached the end of his run. And I love the guy, even when he makes me mad as hell.
Nick Saban is the only coach that is not affected by this attrition.
quote:Wish it were not so, but last night I saw the same thing I remember seeing when it was clear Gerry Dinardo and Lou Tepper were done. I saw it in Les Miles' face. He had no answers and couldn't see the obvious future in his 2nd string QB Harris - even as Harris lit things up and almost single-handedly woke the team up for that last couple of TDs and that hail Mary pass into the end zone.
It has been a great ride and it sucks that it is over....but make no mistake, it is over.
Jennings = JJ and that is not good for the Tigers, and Les doesn't know it.

what do you mean?
I don't think we have that flash we used to have for those kids. A&M is a flashy school now, Bama is Bama, etc etc and it's going to get worse before it gets better

there's nothing wrong with saying that the arse kicking we received last night in scary in regards to it being our first SEC football game. This is a message board for football.
Ok, thanks for the heads up. Once you realize there is not 1 thing you can do to change any of it, other than your reaction to it, the sooner you will quit sounding like a dumb arse emo that is about to off himself due to a bunch of 18-20 year old kids playing football.

strong words. our players resume' and our coaches resume' suggest to me you are wrong.
yes, we lost a football game to a very good team last night. at times we looked like shite and we have some question marks. that is all, nothing more or nothing less. many, many, MANY teams have bad games or bad stretches in a season. we should calm down and see howthe season plays out before we react.

I agree it's all over, even if LSU wins a couple of national titles over the next five years it's only delaying the inevitable. The decline is real and it's here. It's been a good run fellas

Silly juvenile memes instead of a reply. Much like a junior high school kid.

A quick search of your posting history reveals you enjoy hating LSU. This thread follows that pattern.

We used to never lose players to A&M, we just had to worry about Bama poaching a few. The last few years even though we had good classes we lost a good many instate guys we desperately needed. I don't know what it is but something has changed and not in a good way for us. This years class so far is meh at best. We get jack and shite out of Texas now minus a few DBs.

the ignorance and overreaction being displayed in this thread doesn't deserve a legit reply.
