this whole "without us (student section), there is no football" is just one massively retarded, self-important statement. Everyone contributes to making Tiger Stadium what it is and always has been known for. Once you realize that, you'll see the bigger picture.
Nobody said "without us (student section) there is no football." YOU are missing the point. Without students, there is no university. This isn't professional sports and when you realize that, YOU will see the bigger picture.
You area fighting a one sided battle here btw. I don't recall students starting up threads saying "kick out the old people, give us more tickets." Students will mostly agree that it is everyone on gameday, not just students, that makes it such a great atmosphere.
Again, you come to campus for sporting events a few times a year. Students spend most of their entire year on campus. They make up the university. Not the people who simply open up their wallets and tailgate.

What you fail to realize is that the university wasn't established when you walked on to campus. It didn't suddenly come into existence in your presence. There were people who attended before you that paid their money and dues (see my 50k of student loans) for an outstanding education and culture.
Just because I no longer attend LSU does not make me substantially less important to university. Alumni still make multi-millions of dollars in contributions toward LSU Education and Athletics and therefore are a very important part of "defining LSU" for future generations. So yes, I'm only allowed 8 days a year to spend on campus but the 6 years previous that I spent here supersedes your "7 days a week" theory.
And yes, elprez00, I am a proud alumnus.

Okay, I've been asking because I find that an inordinate amount of people spend time here bitching about the university, both football and non football related, that never set foot on campus aside from those 8 Saturdays a year. There was a lot of nonsense in the thread about the athletic dept giving money back to the university.
If you dont have the diploma on the wall, you really dont have the right to bitch about University stuff, or how many tickets they hand out to students at football games.

Are yall really still bickering over this??

I see pretty large empty spots in the student section (north east side) at kick off

While we're on the subject of student tickets, I'd just like to remind everyone of something. When I was a freshman, if I didn't want to go to a game, I simply gave or sold my ticket to another student that wanted to go. If I wanted to bring someone not a student, I simply took the ticket to the athletic office and paid the $35 upgrade fee and they put a sticker on it. IMO, the problems with getting the student section full started when LSU decided it knew better how to pass around tickets to students than the students themselves by starting the ticket exchange, and doing away with gameday upgrades. What was a simple process became a tremendous hassle, and most college students are not going to spend the time to go through the motions to sell a ticket as LSU wanted them to.
You want to fix the student section attendance? Go back to the old way.

You can still upgrade tickets for a guest but not for SC or Bama, but there are only 500 upgrades available per game.
There are large empty sections in the student section at kickoff because the way LSU has the entrance organized. Prisoners at Guantonimo Bay were treated better than LSU students trying to enter the stadium. Police are constantly shouting at students and pushing students to move to the correct line. Once your ID is scanned and ticket scanned you are then heavily searched for alcohol and treated like a criminal. The entire process takes over an hr just to enter the stadium.
LSU wonders why alumni donations are low, well a start would be to treat students with just a tad bit of dignity.

Professionals that moved here from other states, fell in love with LSU football, and in many cases donated over $100,000.00 to the program should not have an opinion?

Wayyyy too many threads about this. Guess what I'm a student and I can more than guarantee I'll be leaving the stadium at the end of the third quarter.
On a second note we start our home SEC schedule in a couple of weeks and I can more than guarantee I'll be in the stadium when the clock hits 0:00 and singing the alma mater. It's just the way it is

This is LSU where leaving early is a tradition. Not a tradition we should be proud of but one none the less. There will be seat attrition regardless of who occupies that section.
It would be easier to lock down the exits and not open them until the final whistle blows.

I ain't reading 9 pages so excuse me if this has already been said ...GTFO
Can we go one day without a "you should be executed if you leave the game early" thread?
ETA: Hopefully there is no way I see the halftime show on Saturday

I don't know if this has been said because 9 pages is too long. I have been sitting next to the SS in the North EZ for 20 years. We moved to expand the section and I was cool with it, no big deal. I have noticed that there are like 4 sections under the scoreboard that students almost never use and they seem to push to the bottom of the section, these sections are almost always empty. The people that sit next to this have talked about this for years and don't understand why these are not used appropriately. It's not a slight at the students, these seats could be filled with new season ticket holders and the students could probably get the same amount of kids in the game.

Do you know why rich alumnus make big donations to LSU football? Its because when they were students they had a blast in the student section and they want the same things for their kids. If LSU took away my tickets you can bet your arse that Im not donating to LSU football.
Guess What? all of these rich alumni are going to die one day even you and We the students are the future rich donors and if you ostracize us from the football program donations in the future will drop like a rock

By the way, these sections are empty ALOT for good SEC games.

my gf got her armed yanked pretty hard by some fat dyke. They used to have several rows of people that patted you down. So when the 1st row was occupied, we figured we would just move to the next line of cops. Absolutely no reason for that kind of action

the tops are always going to look a little empty because we pack in the bottom, even in the greek seats

Oh and if my comments offend you as such to make you want to tell me to kill myself, then either I'm striking a nerve or you just flat out need to get a pack of midol and tampax for that sandy vagina of yours.
that is a pretty dumb statement. Might as well drop the U off LSU if your opinion takes over

That's a whole other topic.
Just a bunch of troopers trying to show off their badge. Had one of them grab my cell phone once and say "and now what is that?" It is pretty ridiculous.
