Yes, it looks like the young man will hit, but I am not sold on his glove at SS yet. I hope he improves his game and is a solid defensive SS. Of course, no matter how much he improves he is going to be compared to the great Nola. Many people don't realize how truly great Nola was. Those people will find out in a few weeks.
Nola is Nola, you dont replace a glove like that.
But Bregman should be a big step up at the plate, assuming he lives up to the power potential especially.

Yep. People got used to that amazing SS play. We are going to hear a lot of "boy, do we miss Nola" this year I fear.

Javi still coaches, their hitting will suck again. if by chance they hit well in the beginning, he will coach them out of those habits by mid season. bank on that.
We had the 4th best batting average in the SEC last season.
Granted it was only .285 which was 93rd in the country. Still, 4th best in the best conference is not bad.

We agree.

What freshman can we expect to see a lot of PT? How has Chris Chinea looked so far? Wasn't he a good hitter in HS too?

Nolas patience at the plate will also be missed

Bregman and Laird for sure with a mixture of Stevenson/McMullen. Chinea could see ABs at DH against lefties. The freshman pitchers are the biggest area of uncertainly this year (and mostly every year).

Agreed, our LF of the infield was probably the best LSU had. Nola was one of the best fielding college shortstops I have seen.

Laird and Stevenson will be vying for the 2 open OF spots. McMullen, a JUCO guy, and Sciambra will also be fighting for those 2 positions.
Another JUCO guy, Ibarra, appeared to be a really slick fielder and will play in the IF.

I think the fact that he can bring a much needed spark to the bats will help ease the comparisons.

Better question... Who will be the other weekend starter?

Is Cotton coming back? Or was he a senior last year?
