They got stuffed on downs where a run was expected. Running on a 2-point conversion is unexpected.

Just did it again. And no, the 2 point attempt was from the 1 because of a penalty so no it didn't catch Texas off guard. Try again dude.

That was all Skattebo. He got stuffed at the line but fought his way through multiple tacklers.

From one on my previous posts in this thread.

quote:

People like you don't seem to understand that running short yardage/goal line from out of the shotgun gives linemen & LBs a split second longer to penetrate or slip gaps. When running out of shotgun in those situations, the blocking always has to be perfect for it to work. That's not always the case from under center.

That had nothing to do with the outcome of that play. Multiple defenders went unblocked and stood him up at the line of scrimmage. It was all individual effort that allowed him to escape.

Sure it didn't.

It's amazing what a back can do coming down hill with the ball versus a stand still from a zone read mesh point.

With Treydez all they need to do is throw jump balls to him in the red zone.

We’ll never win anything of significance with this running scheme.

I think another problem is they don't give the defense different looks. They are in the same few formations most of the time. They need to mix it up more. Run some more pistol, go under center 5-6 times a game, even at mid field. Just let the opponents know that their are other tools in the toolbox. Makes the opponent prepare for more.

I remember a couple people saying they didn't care if we lost some, they'd rather lose with a 300 yd passer than win 10-6.

Hyperbole. No one ever said this.

That wouldn’t necessarily be logically inconsistent… People are going to start criticizing if you have a consistent weakness. I think it was fair then & it’s fair now… guess we’ll see what it looks like next season.

Those are interesting stats, but it doesn’t necessarily prove that going under center is more efficient. It could be that the teams that went under center more frequently in those situations were just more efficient running teams to begin with.

tRant is obsessed with having a running quarterback and going under center.

I'm not sure why exactly, that's just where we are.

The running QB mantra should be self-explanatory. I don't think all QB's have to run like JD to be effective but it sure seems QB's that can use their feet wisely and effectively ala Burrow, makes for a much more dynamic offensive unit overall.

Just look at how a good oc like Sarkisian calls a game and them watch Sloan. Apples and oranges.

Lsu needs to go get an innovative offensive mind. Sloan wastes so much talent. Just look at green this yr. Any other oc wouldve had him with 5 tds.

The fact that Sloan completely went away from 0 out the backfield after it worked is another problem.I

So 1 more than he had with Sloan?

I think the redzone play-calling alone should have Sloan either gone or in a diminished role. I think Green would've had 8-10 TD's if he would've gotten half the targets AA got on fade routes.

There where two things keeping Sloan around:

1: Underwood...fail(though not really on him)
2: Continuity for Nuss. I think this is legit. I do think Kelly better come up with some help for Sloan and needs to get our putrid run-game fixed.

3. Sloan isn't as bad as a bunch of message board posters with little to no understanding of gameplanning and playcalling believe
