When 3 or four defenders can consistently overwhelm the line in the redzone, you will never win the big games. Need some real roadgradrers up front.

Last good oline at LSU was in 2019. Wonder what happened that year? We need to start Recruiting top Talent at the high school level like UGA, bama do. LSU just cant seem to get talent like Will Campbell . We get projects that just never seem to pan out. Its been hard to watch how bad our olines have struggled against good Dlines the last 6 years. Until LSU gets this fixed we will not make the playoff.

O-line is a weakness, but these other things are problem areas also:
Red zone scoring- our play calling and execution
In the Red Zone has been terrible all year.
Dropped passes - normally at the worst times
Toughness - general team toughness. Not seeing
It.

2023 was good as well

In both years there was a pretty good blend of experience and continuity from the previous year. Not sure we’re gonna get much continuity in this era anymore.

We got quite a bit of talent under Brad Davis. They didn’t get coached up much.

This current group doesn’t seem to be all that talented though, particularly along the interior starters. I’d have thought one or 2 amongst the young highly touted types would have taken someone’s spot by now, but I guess not

This. When you are really bad at something, it’s not just one thing. It’s the OL, the play call and the execution. Sure, a better OL will make it easier to call plays and give you more room for error on execution, but it’s not the ONLY problem.

I do agree with the poster saying we have to recruit better at the HS level for OL talent. The fact that we don’t have any freshman or sophomores pushing the below average vets is a problem. They have no choice but to build through the portal, and the portal produced the below average OL we are rolling out today. It will be interesting to see what that unit looks like next year.

It’s not as bad as last year, when three would beat our four and four would beat our five, but this line consistently loses with equal numbers and absolutely whiffs when outnumbered.

Coming into the season, I was concerned about the offensive line. While they have sometimes been enough, they get embarrassed when facing good competition.

From google:
Alabama’s offensive line averages roughly 6'4" to 6'5" and about 315 to 330+ pounds, while LSU’s offensive line averages roughly 6'3" to 6'5" and about 300 to 310 pounds, making Alabama's unit slightly heavier and more massive overall.

Yep, they got their asses whipped against bama. When you can't run the ball in the redzone, you will almost always struggle to score consistently. That's entirely why we lost this game. Run the ball effectively, we win that game by 10+ points. The stat sheet reflects that.

If they aren't everyone from top to bottom needs to get fricking fired.

How LSU continues to struggle to make a 12 fricking team playoff is astounding and completely unacceptable

Yes. It is the online.

But is also QB play, WR play, tackling, consistency, play calling, defensive adjustments, special teams play.

So, it is not "only" the oline.

When they expand to 32 or 64, it's a shoe in.

Agreed !
This red flag is flashing in the Red Zone.Give Sam Leavitt OL protection with receivers like 4,6,7 and no team is beating our Tigers.
