We went to the Clemson game last year, in the middle of nowhere. Nothing there but the college. We had to stay 50 minutes outside, rented small house coz very limited hotels left for 4 people.
Sounds like you started planning a little too late. I had a buddy that went and his family rented a house on the lake. It looked awesome. View was much better than anything you’ll find anywhere close to LSU.

the chicken on a stick while it was a nice portion size was Bland, Bland, no seasoning. it was very dry and the breading on it almost had a chalky taste to it. we all took a bite and then threw it away. I compare it to a grocery store that has a deli and they have some chicken strips and they look good and smell good so you get them. Then you realize you will never do that again because they are bland, dry and sometimes chalky. Would have to be very intoxicated and get a whole bottle of your choice of ranch, ketchup etc. not a little dip cup of it....whole bottle needed and may still not help enough.

When we were moving to Baton Rouge several years ago and staying in hotels, I have to say the choices were disappointing. More than once I left a brand name hotel wondering how it managed to keep its branding. The hotel stock here is aging fast. Baton Rouge could easily support 5 or more new upper mid tier hotels.
LSU could make a fortune building along river road or leasing to a developer. Can you imagine hotels within walking distance of campus? Jackpot.
