Correct, which is less than 50%, so it is called unlikely, therefore hard.
???
4 outcomes: team A wins 2, team A wins 1st and loses 2nd, team A loses 1st and wins 2nd, team B wins 2.
Chances of A or B winning streak is 25% + 25% = 50%
Chances of A or B winning only 1 game each is 25% + 25% = 50%
This isn't an exercise in YOUR team winning both, it's a demonstration of ANY team winning both, which is exactly as likely to occur as split victories (each team winning only once).

The only way that saying is actually justified is if the team that won the first is significantly worse than the team they beat.
That is not the case in this situation.

All I know is, everytime I flip a quarter it has just as much of a chance for heads or tails no matter how or what I have done previously. Technically I could get 10 heads in a row.
Although that is less likely to happen

A few of the Alabama players and a dozen ESPN talking heads have said Alabama was better, LSU was lucky, I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!
At the end of the day they know we beat them and we know it too. All of the spewed, pointless mind-garbage on the planet does not change the outcome from November 5th. And all of the sport psychologists on the planet can not keep Foster from puckering up a little when he walks in and sees those LSU jerseys across the field.
Their offense knows that, while Foster took the blame, they were unable to get him close enough for a reasonable chance at success.
Their defense knows they were gassed before the end of regulation.
And Les seems to own Saban.
Advantage- LSU

It depends on how the first game goes. If you catch every break and are obviously inferior, yet win the first matchup, then yes, it would be very difficult to win again.
If you are evenly matched, played a very competitive game, and won in the end, then it would be about the same level of difficulty.
If you absolutely blew the team out of the water and dominated, it would not be hard to repeat.
LSU played an away game very competetively and won. That should play slightly in their favor.

Take flipping a quarter twice. If you flip heads the first time,
That only makes sense if while the quarter is in the air a linebacker is bearing down on you to take your head off...

Translated for you: In skill sports there are a hell of a lot more factors at stake than one quarter. maybe a fist full of them, thrown in the air, and the percentage of heads to tails each throw, would make more sense...

Oh, I believe you. You misspelled "grammar".

In Tuscaloosa? Yes.
In the Superdome? Maybe not.
These "analysts" are so full of crap- really.

Damn- it must be even more difficult to beat a team 7 out of 9 games too!

Isn't that what Virginia Tech was thinking after they found out that they had to face Clemson in the ACC Championship game this year?
Virginia Tech's only regular season loss was at home to Clemson. What happened in the ACC Championship game? A Clemson Tiger blowout of the Hokies.

The pressure is on LSU not AL. We have everything to lose while AL has it all to gain.
Sorry, but DEFINITELY have to disagree with this statement. IMHO, I truly believe that ALL the pressure will be on Bama in this game.
Not only are they playing in one of the most intimidating atmospheres not named Death Valley, which is pretty much a SECOND Home to our Beloved Tigers. But, also everyone on ESPN has talked them up so much and has put BAMA so high on a pedestal...that the pressure is purely on Saban & Company.
Face it...Bama seems to be the new ESPN Darlings that was previously USC, at least until next year or so. The pressure is solely placed on them and Trent Richardson's shoulders. I'm just curious whether or not that young QB will crack under pressure, once Nick Saban puts the game in his hands after we contain Richardson. LSU wins this one Boys!

GoldRing- you are spot on. Alabama was tiring. Sorta like we were in 2003 before Saban called the delayed blitz. Alabama lineman were sucking air.
The fact they already lost to LSU, is pressure on them. The coach is tight and the team will play tight. Similar results for the gumps as the last time they played in the dome.

Makes you wonder if Miles will do a hurry up or no huddle offense from the start.

re: "It's hard to beat a team twice." (Posted on 12/30/11 at 9:51 p.m. to SteveLSU35) Not so sure about that one. AL may be in the driver's seat in this game. The pressure is on LSU not AL. We have everything to lose while AL has it all to gain.
I do not agree for 2 reasons.
1. LSU has played 2 good opponents since Alabama and has beaten them by a large margin. AU has not.
2. LSU has continued to significantly improve late in the season. This is rather unusual for an NCAA team as they usually peak around midseason.
3. AU has had all of the hype and has been picked by a majority of the media to win this time. The pressure is on them and they know they do not have the weapons, including coaching expertise, to beat us.
