While officials previously suggested that construction of the arena would be fully funded by the developer in exchange for ownership and revenue from events unrelated to LSU, a new sales tax in a recently established economic development district surrounding the university now seems likely to contribute to the project. Additional public funds may be requested from the Metro Council at a later date.

First no taxes all privately funded, but now we see taxes will be required and of course Landry is involved.

You people, I swear. This is all incredibly good news. So people drinking in bars around the arena will have to pay an extra penny on the dollar. Who fricking cares.

Another penny? Doubtful. We already have one of the higher sales tax in the nation. And you know they’ll keep raising it.

Retail development? Walking trails? …… Around memorial stadium?? …renovate the stadium ? Sure. It’s gotta be close to 75 years old… but a sports/entertainment draw for Baton Rouge?? Get outta here….

What will the PMAC become after this is complete? Could LSU use it as a dedicated assembly hall type building? Gymnastics and volleyball? Id like to see it refurbed some and given a new life of purpose. Its important part of the campus.

That seems like a good use for it.

Tax dollars for goldsby and memorial. Both places you don’t want to be after dark.

What could possible go wrong there. Heads up investment guys!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does this replace the PMAC for basketball or is that a whole separate deal?

This is a whole new separate arena for men’s and women’s basketball. Volleyball and Gymnastics remain at PMAC
