Whoever believes that Scott Woodard is solely responsible for BK coming to LSU is insane. The boosters wanted him. The alumni wanted him. Woodard got the deal done. Unfortunately in 4 1/2 years it hasn’t worked as well as everyone hoped.
If BK would have won 2 national championships, other people wouldn’t have amnesia about wanting him to come here

The Board of Supervisors control what happens in a coaching search. The AD can go try to gauge interest, but it goes back to the board to decide who to make an offer to. Then the board has to sign off on the contract, so for all the people pointing at Woodward for trying to land a whale, you can also point the finger at every member of the BoS who unanimously approved the contract.

Why is he solely responsible? There was a search committee in place when Kelly got hired. Where is the anger toward them? I’m not taking up for Woodward, he was part of it. But there is more to it than just him.

Woodward should have been fired the day he let go of Will Wade, while Bill Self went on to win a national championship one hour from LSUs campus

Woodward fricked up with Brian Kelly but pretending like he doesnt deserve credit for Jay Johnson is asinine. It doesn’t matter if Rempe had a large role, Woodward made the hire and has kept him here. Not to mention, who the frick hired Rempe? Without Woodward, we don’t have Jay Johnson.

Yeah, the old "he hired Johnson and he hired Mulkey" is true but not exactly a half court shot. It was a layup to mix sports metaphors. The men's basketball hire was horrible and the way he cowered in front of the NCAA was cowardly. I DID think the Kelly hire was good but no way would I have given him that contract. And when he says no, that would have been fine with me. But I've seen enough of the Jimbo Fisher and Brian Kelly contracts to last a lifetime. Clearly the AD was Scott "Big Splash" Woodward. Great to hire a proven name like Mulkey and J Johnson but you fire a blank on Brian Kelly and his contract and you DESERVE to be fired...not to mention the miss on McMahon.
