It would be nice to have a smart, solid football coach instead of a "personality"

After 16 years of Les Miles and Ed Orgeron...

Wouldn't it be nice to have a Head Coach that was not some character or caricature, that wasn't just a "larger than life" personality that GameDay liked to have funny segments about, but was instead just a respected, cerebral, solid football coach that won games, and the focus was on the play and players on the field instead of him eating grass or running shirtless?

That would be nice.

Yet people on here want Kiffin.

Though I concede he’s a much better X’s and O’s coach than Les or Ed, he’s absolutely a personality first guy whose antics are only cute when you’re winning.

What would the reaction be if he went for it on 4th down from our own 20 and didn’t get it

I want the next coach to have 0 personality with the most boring press conferences you’ve ever heard.

We need him to be an X’s and O’s Guy. Not a mascot.

I think Aranda would be great. I think he’s going to be one of the best HC’s in the country soon.

I'll be a hypocrite and say I wouldn't hate it if it was Kiffen even though it totally goes against my thread. He is actually a good football coach that has a mastery of one side of the ball.

I would prefer a HC that isn't a "personality" though. If we are getting one though, he better be DAMN good on one side of the ball.

I'm not necessarily saying this. That can work in the NFL but having some level of charisma is important in college football with recruiting and what not.

I'm just saying can we have a guy that doesn't eat grass and is "the Mad hatter" or...all the things CEO is.

I’d be down if they’re a personality that also knows what the frick they’re doing.

It is time for LSU to get serious about football again. It is a certifiable clown show now.

Just give me someone with Coordinator experience on one side of the ball. No more position coaches.

Saban is on a ton of commercials. He's not BB who just mumbles through press conferences and looks like he just got out of a homeless shelter.

You don’t want to go too far the other direction. Ideally you find a coach with the whole package. You don’t necessarily say “we’ve had characters so anyone with unique personalities are a No.”

CFB coach is a high-profile position. You’ve got have some PR-Savvy….call it personality/character/charisma or whatever, but that’s definitely a part of the job and necessary to build a consistent program

But I totally understand your point that yea, we need someone that know what they’re doing on an X’s and O’s Front in addition to the Face of the program hat

I'm totally fine with Charisma.

I'm talking about guys that became caricatures and jokes like Les and Ed.

Love him or hate him, Nick Saban has always been captivating. He knows how to command a room or a microphone when he talks

He is certainly not boring or bland, never has been. He knows the game

I really think Aranda is the man we need and the man we can get. He’ll have talent here right out of the gate and these issues on defense will be handled.

I actually give Kiffin some credit for that. Very high risk, but he was playing to win the game. He knew he'd have to outscore Bama, and that's why he went for it on 4th down so much.

At least he doesn't play it safe and by the book, which too many coaches do for fear of criticism.

Aranda scares me because i think he is the dan mullen on the defenseive side of coaching. No personality does not go well in SEC recruiting. Great X's and O's guy but i think our recruiting would suffer until he won a NC or something. Then I could see a saban type personality. I do think kiffin would kill it here. A personality to go with a great offensive mind and a great recruiter .

You can say that for the first two 4th down attempts. But by that point he was on tilt.

You’re kidding right? Dan Mullen’s problem is his fricking arrogance without anything significant to back it up. His personality is arrogance and there is very little that is actually cerebral about him. He’s a clown in high dollar floppy shoes.

I said this a couple of weeks ago…add to my order no subtitles needed at pressers plz and I’ll be a happy paying customer.
