It seems that Miles is defending his coaches

and absolutely throwing the players under bus. I'm sorry, but that's wrong. He needs to take the blame and allow his coaches to take the blame. The kids are trying, and are talented but don't seem to know what they are doing. How in the world is that ANYTHING BUT HORRIBLE COACHING?????!!!!!!!!!!!

So has this board come to a conclusion yet if this is true, or is it quotes being taking out of context...last time i checked there was a debate.

60% say yes. 20% are alluding to the fact, but being diplomatic and 20% just have their heads in the sand.
Publicly it's mistakes ON the field. Privatly I think it is too. Don't see any changes. Somehow I get my hopes up every weekend. We will see.

what if its the players and the coaches fault?

When the coach throws players under the bus and the players start to talk about the "scheme" not working, you might as well stick a fork in the team because its done.

Read the article entitled "Miles still dwelling on inerception" and decide for yourself.

I am not exactly sure what it is, but whatever it is, all the other coaches seem to know it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tulane have some offensive success against us, but obviously not win.
Our defense will way out-talent them, but we'll see cracks in the defense mind you, just not a breaking that teams with a semblance of decent talent can do (a la MSU and USCe).

How, cause the D players are not that good.
Posted on 10/28/08 at 10:00 pm to otowntiger
I'm sure it's a combination coaching and players. Isnt it usually?

I am hoping to see big changes this weekend, but doubt that will happen.

quote:True. But when players are not in position, and Coach Miles says they are trying things outside the scheme, the question of team discipline begins to rise. Now, that being said, would it be fair to say the undisciplined player deviating from the "scheme" in terms of being out of position is at fault, or the coaching, in a given play?

A major key to being an elite program is recruiting. Our coaches do the recruiting by calling up the recruits and building relationships with them. If Coach Miles came out and threw his coaches under the bus, how would that help the relationships that our coaches have with the recruiting class we are trying to sign?
On the other hand, if Miles decides to throw the players under the bus, what does that do? That also helps out recruiting (because the recruits think we need them more and they will become starters faster).
It's win-win. The only problem would be is if our current players felt insulted by "being thrown under the bus." But I doubt that's the case. Miles says Lee threw too many interceptions. No freaking s**t???? You think Lee disagrees with that? Miles says our guys on D did a poor job in tackling and in coverage. No freaking s**t??? You think our guy on D disagree with that?
Quit being such a baby. These are football players we are talking about. They expect their coaches to yell at them when they lose.

i just hope miles has a sense of urgency with regard to the defense and not turn into this guy:

On offense it's the players.
On deffense it's the coaches.
Miles knows this. He's not gonna call out coordinators and risk the players loseing respect for them. This also hurts recruiting majorly. It would make absolutly no sense to call out coaches at this point. Miles is doin what is best.

quote:Yeah, cuz when Saban was talking about how the players just weren't executing and the players were talking about not getting his scheme with all the complicated blitzes, that situation never did work itself out.

I'm talking about the 2001 season, when our defense sucked for half the year and then started turning it around after the Ole Miss game. Now, we may or may not see that kind of turnaround this year, but everyone insisting that it can't or even hasn't happened right here at LSU before is simply wrong.

So it's wrong for Miles to criticize poor plays by athletes? Lee threw a pick that paced the game, yeah...I'd be pissed too.
Defending the coaches? Pretty sure as bad as the D was, they gave up 38 points, exactly how many we scored on Georgia's defense. And unless you want some Clemson or Miami clean house coaching drama going on, you don't want Miles calling out coaches midseason.
