Do you even look at recruiting?
Yes

He’s pulled kids from Atlanta, California, the hills of Kentucky, inner city Cincinnati, Cleveland, and small town Florida.
Okay
That still doesn’t equate to what is on LSU’s roster.
I personally think that he can handle it.
Nonetheless, it is still to be seen.

He didn’t coach many “inner-city“ kids, “country“ kids, or Cajuns at Notre Dame.

Funny how Saban the disciplinarian wins with just these kinds of kids.
I’m not saying that BK won’t be successful.
I’m simply pointing out that he hasn’t had to deal with some of the facets that come along with the players at LSU.

Failed analogy. . .
That is yet to be seen. However, I hope (and believe) that your take will ultimately be correct.

For 2 years all I’ve read on tRant is how the team is soft now, we are promoting a selfish mentality, we lack discipline/focus, etc.
Now we have a guy that by all accounts runs a tight ship and people are worried he’ll hurt the players’ feelings.
Some of you act like there are 2 options: either you let the players do whatever the frick they want, or you treat them like they’re in boot camp for four years. There’s a lot of middle ground and quite honestly, the team does need some discipline.
Discipline doesn’t just mean being a hardass to be a hardass. It doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. It means you focus on football first and foremost, you hold people accountable, and you make sure these guys are the best players they can be. Is there a chance BK goes overboard and rubs a few people the wrong way? Sure. But let’s not act like it’s impossible to win unless the head coach coddles the players. I’d rather him run a couple of guys off in year 1 if that means we have a better team in year 2.
Ultimately BK’s success or failure will come down to getting the team to buy into his approach. If guys feel like he can make them better players and win games, they will get onboard.

Culture will indeed be significant imho:
He didn’t coach many “inner-city“ kids, “country“ kids, or Cajuns at Notre Dame.
He will experience an entirely different “culture” at LSU.
How he relates will determine his success.
I really don’t think this will be an issue. I’ve been around a lot of different types of people in a sports environment and a different personality can be a novelty and a fun change of pace. The best coaches I’ve ever had were absolutely nothing like me, and some of my least favorite were ridiculously similar to me.
They’re only going to care if he can coach, no one needs him to cook an etoufee and go duck hunting with them
