Anyone here ever read the book from John Ed Bradley?

I read it, he seems like a strange, depressed guy at the time he was writing the book, I didn't think it was so great

I read it, good book, but not the best thing I have ever read. It gives a perspective that we never think about in regards to what happens the day after most football players hand in their pads.

It was an interesting window into a certain era of Tiger football. Very different time.

no matter how bad a book is, once I've started it I will finish it, it wasn't a great book but it was during my time at LSU at I knew a lot of people in that book, including the author

ETA: still have a cool leather jacket that Woodley gave me one night while we were shooting pool

Very good book. I attended LSU from 81-85. The time JEB was at LSU, I was a kid in boy scouts, escorting people to their seats in Tiger Stadium. Reading the book gave me a perspective of players I grew up watching and certainly I understood the 1970s culture of Louisiana and the fact that everyone in state was a tiger fan and wanted to go to games but many of us couldn't afford it but we listened on radio and for me, scouting was my exposure to the school and game day experience. I remember being there sitting on steps in stadium watching Carlos Carson light up Rice for 77-0 victory. My first game in Tiger Stadium.

Was my first ever game to attend - '87, maybe? I know it never rains in Tiger Stadium, but that was some heavy arse fog that fell sideways along with tornado-like wind.

It’s a really good book. Might not be exactly what you expect. It takes you through the darker times he experienced. My dad was the quarterback at OHS when John Ed was there and they were extremely close as were our families. He actually gave my grandfather, my dad, my brothers, and me signed copies of the book. My dad said after reading the book and knowing John Ed and what he went through after LSU, it doesn’t really even begin to scrape the surface of how bad off he was. Said he essentially turned into a hermit. He would go visit John head at his parents house and he just wasn’t the same as before. He kind of equated it to Brooks after he left Shawshank.

It rained against Oregon St one year so hard for 10 to 15 minutes. It made up for all those times It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium.

He came off very whiney to me. It was almost as if he wanted me to feel bad for him that he played CFB at LSU and then had enter the real world.

Not a bad read, but there was a lot of pussyass-ness to it.

McNeese 2015.

Game was cancelled because of the storm, and the lightning in the area. It was also my daughter's first game in Tiger Stadium.

She was sad that the game was cancelled, but I told her she can tell her grandchildren she was at the only game where it ever rained in Tiger Stadium.

Yes thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended. Surprised at some of the comments. Obviously a little too insightful and deep for some. It is not your Rah Rah football story.
