It all goes back to what Jay values

Brown is playing because he can hit. He’s not a natural outfielder. You can see it on judging balls off the bat. Jay values offense at almost every position. A good college outfielder makes that catch but does he hit a home run to tie it. Leave by a player’s offense, die by his defense.

Maybe you should leave this terrible take you have

It’s called an error. The kid was about to run into the wall. Errors happen.
Blame the pitcher for getting roped by a backup player who was only in the game because they pinch ran for the starter two innings prior.
But really, don’t blame Jump either. The other team has scholarship players they want to win as well. Give them credit.

With a name like this I feel like you should be able to see a terrible post coming before you ever hit submit.

He was a pitcher in HS. When he wasn’t pitching, he played center field. Never missed a game. Get a clue before you post. He grew up in my hometown and played ball with both of my sons.

I like how everyone is downplaying Brown’s baseball ability because he made a costly error. It happens. Might be time to let it go. He’ll probably field a million fly balls this summer thinking about it. Or bang his hairdresser girlfriend. Either way, life rolls on.

We lost to the number four ranked team in the country in extra innings in down year. We weren’t expected or should we have won that series based on how we played 9/10s of the season. Why do we do this?

He took his eye off the ball. An error. It happens. Just bad timing

We used to complain about the opposite with Mainieri. Weak hitters who were defensive wizzes.

As much as people whined about pitching this season the offense was the real problem. Can’t expect to win game 7 of a regional with 3 runs

so who would you rather have playing?
Kling? he was in CF
Bingham? he ran for Travinski and was in the DH role
Larson? had already been PH for due to situation when his time came up in lineup.

He pitched in HS and is only going to play 1B or in the outfield being left handed. Do you watch baseball?

This team needed offense. They were almost a full point off of the ‘23 team in OPS. Pitching was better in ‘24 despite the ‘23 team having Skenes. Jay has the pitching headed in the right direction now he needs to get the offense back to an elite level.

He’s been able to develop game one and two starters, but consistency for a third starter and out of the pen is still major issues. A few guys like Helmers, Hurd, Anderson and Ack really stepped up late, but most of them had lapses at times, and the rest of the pen was a total crap shoot.
Anderson looks very promising coming out of this season, but there are a LOT of question marks going down the rest of this group based on their play this season.

Are you still bitching about Jay? Where has he fallen short of expectations?

Yep.
Remember how we lost the lead to UCLA in Omaha?
