The Advocate actually wasted space in the paper clearing this subject up in their "Ask The Advocate" article this morning

quote:

Sex offenders

A recent article in The Advocate reported that LSU’s new quarterback, Zach Mettenberger, pleaded guilty to sexual battery in Georgia. Is he registered as a sex offender? If not, why not?

Response from Louisiana State Police spokesman Lt. Doug Cain:

“No, the elements of the Georgia statute to which Mettenberger pled are not elements of the comparable Louisiana statute. Therefore, Mettenberger is not required to register in Louisiana as a sex offender.”

Bro got drunk and slapped a chicks arse. Half of my friends would be registered sex offenders if that counted in LA.

It's a legitimate question. I don't see what's wrong with asking it, or with having it answered in the paper.

Wow, the advocate sucks more and more everyday. It's bad enough to go to their website and deal with a bunch of pop ups.

I said more to them than that.

I would like to know what possible purpose does that question have. Are they trying to smear his name?

If nothing else, the timing is odd. Week of the biggest game of the year and they're talking about the sex offender status of the 3rd sting QB?

To generate interest, and ultimately drive people to buy their paper, and visit their website. When people like the OP bring it here, or like you e-mail them, it just validates that they're talking about the right things.....

Not flaming - I agree with you it's bullshite, but all you're doing is playing into their hands by taking the bait......

If you clicked on the link, you added to their ability to sell advertising with this crap, think about it that way.....

Maybe they "The Advocate" figure The Team cannot play without A Distraction, so they "The Advocate" would Provide One......

It's legitimate? Really? It's crappy reporting and misconstruing facts. People are going to come away with the misconception that he molested or forced himself on some one. Granted, what he did isn't great, but as it has been said, most of us are guilty of the same. This is sad and irresponsible reporting, this kid should be allowed to start over.
