So its a public school that charges tuition and has a strict admission policy.
I would say that pretty much makes it a private school.

alright smartass, tell me another public HIGH SCHOOL that charges tuition in this state.
and no shite, they are listed as a public school. Anybody that googles uhigh can read that. But they sure as shite don't act like one. And that was my point.
Nice comparison by the way jackoff. Maybe next you can compare LSU football and West Monroe football and tell me how they are the same as well.

it seems as though you are being a little bitch about this thread... Point is Uhigh is a public school. May seem like a private school, but it's not. Also, it was listed in some magazine as a top 250 national public school. I dont know where we ranked, but we were in it when I graduated from there in 2003

A friend of mone told me that University High, along with Christian Life and Chapel Trafton, is where kids go who cannot make it at Episcopal??? True?

What Goinallout is pointing out to you is that public does not always mean "free" (technically it never means free considering that they are tax funded) or "open access". Just like private doesn't always mean a lack of socialized costs. . .this is particularly true in Louisiana where part of the State Department of Education's budget is allotted for private schools.
While I will admit that U High isn't typical of public schools (they do not qualify to receive local funding for example but they do receive state funding) but. . .particularly in Louisiana. . .public and private isn't always black and white.

not. My stepsons were accepted to episcopal and dunham (formerly trafton). We chose dunham. That's garbage.

U-High is considered a public school, and is constantly rated as one of the best public schools in Louisiana, if not the nation.

That's actually bullshite.......Episcopal has more to do with $$$$$$$$$
My kids didn't make it in this go around; however, while they were evaluating apps we decided to move to the Woodlands (promotion). The Woodlands HS ranks significantly higher than U-High and it is "free"......well, with the higher prop tax I'll at least be getting 3 educations for the price of 1.

Posted on 1/8/09 at 2:11 pm to beaver4LSU
Seriously??? There are public high schools all over the city just like anywhere else, including the "white areas."
Posted on 1/8/09 at 2:12 pm to panda

you're going a little overboard there. u-high probably isn't even a top 5 public school in louisiana
