Jalen Mills, Jalen Collins and Craig Loston uncertain... They will be the "make or break" for this defensive team, imo.

I sort of agree but man I am beginning to think believe that our DB's will be better than last year. After two games all of the screw ups that have happened on defense have been at the hands of the older guys, not the freshman!

Jalen Mills and Simon look to be a yet another pair of super great corners. They were killer today! But yeah I agree it is still to early to pass final judgement on the defense.

Defense is worse--not sure how much. But we definitely miss Brockers and Taylor more than a lot of people thought we would.

Offense is significantly better. But we do miss a RR type.

We'll see about the intangibles. Last year's team was special. Let's hope this year's is too.

When Mettenberger plays as well as he did tonight, it makes me want to say we can be.

But I'm still gonna say no.

If TM, Brockers, RR, and MC would have all came back and played this year we would be 95 Nebraska good. I agree with your assessment, but I will say our D will improve a lot as the year goes on. I wouldn't be surprised if Mills ends up a better cover corner then TM was.

Im worried about teams being able to pass on this defense. It looked like there was quite a bit open at times down field. But the Pass rush messed up the QB timing. When they start playing teams with better line, QB, and receivers, thats when we will see what this team is made of.
Goes for offense too, when they play teams with better defense.

Oh, no doubt. One of the all-time best....

i think so, too. We are actually probably more athletic than last year's team. We miss Brocker's size in the middle--even the plays he didn't mak, he affected. And we miss Taylor's leadership and experience. But I think we are much better at LB, and if Collins, Mills, and Eugene grow up quick, we might be a better overall d than last year. I do think we'll miss Tyrann's swag, and I'm not sure that's replaceable. Oh well..

Watching this team play reminds me A LOT of watching the 2007 team. We are gonna go all the way boys

I think at this point in the season last years team was better. However it may very well turn out that this years is better by season's end.

IMO while the D line is playing very well, it's not as dominant as it was last year. That's not a nock on this year's line, they are playing well but IMO last years was better.

Secondary is questionable we really won't know the answer to this until we play a better passing team, and by the time that happens our young guys should be playing better and the secondary should have gelled by then.

For now I say '11, going undefeated in the regular season is something I didn't think I would live to see.

One spot you guys are missing...the o-line. They looked great out there yesterday. We are gonna miss Faulk but we have better talent and depth than last year. I like the way the line looks 90% of the time they blowing the DL off the ball.
