Just playing devil’s advocate.

DVH is 0-9 in Omaha (8-14 record, 5x 2 and Q). Arkansas is 0-11 (2x runner-up)

But he’s never been to Omaha as the highest seed remaining.

They’ve also choked in the tournament in other years before the CWS too (#1 seed in 2021, lost to NC State in Supers). Do they choke again this year?

All this to say Game 1 is going to be huge.

Is the coach different?

DVH is the most scared coach in America. Always puckered.

Why are we talking about Arkansas, baw?

Focused on the Tigers. This year is the same for the Tigers as 2023. How bout that.

Arkansas is the most complete team (only slightly ahead of LSU). Eventually one of these years he's going to get a title.

Arkansas is (statistically) the best and most complete team in the CWS. But one great opposing pitcher can make that all for naught in a one game situation. Lose game 1 and the odds of coming back to win the CWS are low.

Look at the 2013 LSU team. That may have been Mainieri's best team (regular season). Then they matched up against a team (UCLA) with tremendous pitching in the CWS.

Arkansas second most Omaha appearances without a title behind FSU.

Coastal Carolina on other hand is 1/1 in Omaha. Their head coach was the assistant coach in 2016 when they won it all. They’ve been really consistent since 2000, 20 regional appearances since then to LSUs 21. Been said a lot but I’ll be surprised if it’s not them vs. LSU/Arkansas for the title

None of this means shite.

They’re going to play a baseball game and one team will score more runs than the other team that night.

Counterpoint, this same thing was said about corbin before he finally won one, similar with ray tanner, and o’connor, but they also have been near as often as van horn

Arkansas is in a GREAT position this year. They ran through a tough Super Regional. Being tested and passing that test is a big advantage over a team like LSU that hasn’t really had to raise its level of play yet.

If LSU beats Arkansas this time, I think it will weigh very heavily on that program and Van Horn because it will feed that narrative you are talking about.

If Arkansas wins game 1, they will feel like they are majorly in the drivers seat for sure.

I'm interested in seeing how Arkansas plays away from Baum. Like LSU, they haven't exactly been stellar. In these environments, it comes down to the team that slows down and executes......not necessarily who is more "talented".

Why do you say that Arkansas is more tested than LSU? They played in the same conference, both went through a regional and super regional at home.

It's not like Arkansas went on the road to take down tough teams. You also don't have any evidence that Tennessee would have beaten West Virginia if matched up. LSU defeated Tennessee at home as well so they haven't accomplished something that LSU hasn't.

In addition, we have a coach and players who have succeeded in Omaha before.
