Even Jones being a right handed first baseman is rare.

Huh?

Most first basemen are left handed, for the same reason third basemen are right handed. It has to do with the throwing motion and keeping runners on base.

"Left-handed first basemen are also advantageous in attempting to pick off baserunners at first, as the left-hander can catch and tag in one motion, often doing both at the same time, while right-handed first baseman must sweep their glove across their body, costing them a crucial fraction of a second in applying the tag"

I know why left handers play first base. I don't know what the % of right handed first basemen is to left handed first baseman, but I do know for damn sure there are WAYYYY more right handed first baseman than there are left handed third baseman.

I wouldn't classify a right hander at first base as "rare."

I agree on third basemen. I don't know of any that are left handed. Instead of "rare", I should have said more advantageous for a left handed first basemen.

If there’s an end of the year award for dumbest thread started, you’ll without a doubt be a finalist for this one.
Well done moron.

Is this the biggest baseball "L" in the history of the Tiger Rant? You are batting 2-580 or .00348%

It may have have been mentioned but this idea will be legendary, right up there with...

1. Trindon Holliday at DE
2. Tyler Hanover throwing 115 mph to first base
3. Jake Brown playing 3B

Milan’s average may be low, but he’s been clutch in several have-to-have-it moments over the last two years
