I think some just like to rest the bay in their shoulder before the pitchers ready
It’s very pronounced with Crews because he hangs it over his back.
Some to the bay waggle though.

I think Crews does it to stay balanced and it helps as a pre-pitch routine to remind his body to be balanced into his feet. Lots of hitters want to get out on their toes too much. It might be something Jay teach or maybe Crews explained his approach at the plate and others are trying it.

Jacob Berry did it, so I think it might have came from Jay. Not quite as pronounced. But a very quiet bat, pre-swing
