According to a Yahoo Sports report, the conference is considering reviving a policy that would require players transferring between SEC schools to sit out one year before becoming eligible to play.

He is an embarrsement and should be FIRED immediately!

Good thing we getting kicked out then. We will pick up every SEC transfer player out there that we want.

It will completely destroy the entire conference. Absolutely insane. You can’t do that unless the entire NCAA decided that.

I for one loathe the yearly transfers. Maybe they could limit it to once only unless the coach leaves

Prediction: Sankey won't be SEC commissioner after this academic year. He jumped the shark when he said he didn't know the details of 5 for 5 policy that the NCAA came up with. This ridiculous notion about trying to restrain SEC players from transferring to other SEC schools is lunacy, anti-competitive vs other conferences, etc

Oh, and BTW, that would last a grand total of 3.5 seconds in a court of law. That is clearly "restraint of trade". You would be denying a player for example the opportunity to make as much NIL money as possible. Blatantly ILLEGAL...3.5 seconds in any court in the land.

This dude seems to have a one track mind. It's "punish players that want to transfer" that is dominant. This is still just a proposal.

It'll never pass. No coach wants that, thus no school presidents would go for it, so Sankey won't do it.

ETA: all conferences are trying to rein in the effect of portal and NIL, this is just a bad idea.

For sure. And for going to the SEC 9 game schedule w/o getting any benefit from doing so.

I think it’s more about preventing Lane and LSU from poaching players from in conference that is really driving this. Sankey didn’t like Lane’s shenanigans when he was at Ole Miss, but he put up with it because it was Ole Miss and they are limited. Lane at LSU is terrifying, though.

And I wouldn’t be so sure other coaches and schools aren’t for this as well. I don’t know how many have to vote for it to pass, but I don’t think it’s out of the question.
