They still have time to get it together, but I think it's obvious that Yeskie is not elite

I don’t like his pitch selection at all. We waste way too much many pitches and I don’t all of it is the guy in the bump.

The staff improved over the course of the season last year. Hoping they do the same this year.

So elite we didn’t host a win the sec tournament didn’t host or win a regional! That’s the elite we love now!

I’m not saying the entire team was elite. When I said the pitching was elite, I meant that I think Holman and Jump were probably one of the top 1-2 punches in the country. I think the bigger problem was our offense last year. I think our offense will be elite this year so if pitching can improve throughout the season like it did last year, then the sky is the limit.

You can’t say that that’s just stupid ! Go look at the guys they had in that stretch but yall will bitch if the hitting sucks and the pitching is great you
People want it all for the whole season why don’t you just check out now and stop watching I mean I guess pitchers or hitter are not allowed to get better ! Because shite all we had was poor ole Paul Skeenes! And no one else got outs or had great outings! I mean he literally had 2 outings in the college world series and somehow lsu won the whole damn thing that year not throwing pitchers lmao that’s what you sound like!

I'd be interested to hear what A&M fans think of Yeskie's pitch calling when the pitcher gets 2 strikes. From what I can see, he either calls a fast ball that is very hittable to try to throw it by a guy, or he calls junk pitches that end up no where near the strike zone. And, I feel like this happened consistently last year with completely different pitchers.

This was also the worry at Arizona. Pitching was not great compared to batting.

Word is that there are people in that dugout that are not a fan -- and it's not just players.

WHo knows

The dude has been hired by Pat Casey, Jim Schlossnagle, and Jay Johnson. He obviously has done something right to have three different coaches of that caliber giving him a job

A lot of the issues we've had the last 2 years we also had in 2023 under Wes Johnson. Our bullpen was shaky until the postseason. We just happened to have the best pitching prospect in years as our #1 and another first rounder as our #2...and we mashed at the plate which hid a lot of our issues on the mound. We didn't have great pitching in 2022 either, but we didn't have much of a staff either when Jay took over.

I dont love Yeski as a pitch caller

it feels like everyone works back ways unless all they have is a fastball.

Would love to see a break down of pitch types.

I feel like Jay likes him as a developer, but roster turnover is so great he has so few guys to develop.

we returned 6 pitchers from last year. 5 actually pitches. 2 pitched 10+ innings and one of those guys is hurt.

Anderson looks better than last

Ithink a lot can be said for how our pitchers improved as the season went on last year.

Jump ended up being pretty good and he got shelled against MSU, Arkansas, Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

and he was a second round pick, ended the season with a respectable ERA.

I'm not a big Yeski guy, but when we lost the last pitching guy it was late in the season and all the other good ones were taken. I dont think Yeski warrants buying out and I dont expect to see him back after his contract is up

There's still plenty of times to get things turned around/figured out, but I dont think anyone is a big fan of Yeskie at the moment. It's the same issues this year we saw last year at this point.

If this persists, and you want to keep Yeskie around, they have got to prioritize command over stuff first in the portal next time around. Stop taking all these guys who can light up a gun or have 2-3 pitches but lack command and think in a year we can teach it to them.

Cowan and Eyanson are the only portal pitchers we grabbed that are not having command issues at this point.

- Fontenot was a disaster in his last 2 appearances with 4 free passes to get 3 outs and we havent seen him since the NDSU series in early March. He had 12 free passes in 11 IP last year at Texas

- Dorsey has walked 2 and had 2 wild pitches to go 3 innings so far; he had 23 free passes in 30 IP last season

- Mayers is a disaster in terms of control with 12 free passes in 5.2 IP and was a disaster against Texas this weekend throwing just 4 strikes in 13 pitches; he came in with huge issues in command

- Sheerin isnt pitching this year, but he had 42 free passes in 70 IP last season with 11 WP as well

- Benge has given up 7 free passes in 9.2 IP this season; 33 free passes in 33 IP last season at DBU

Prioritize guys who can throw strikes. Cowan had just 37 free passes in 110 IP last season at Wofford. Eyanson had 28 free passes in 82 IP last season.

It's not a mystery why the guys who cant throw strikes arent throwing strikes and that guys that are throwing them are continuing to do what theyve always done. We are wasting roster spots at pitcher with so many guys who have command issues and Yeskie certainly isnt fixing them so far.
