Is the NFL really gonna make the Saints and Steelers play in Paris on Sunday?

With all the chaos and burning down France going on, both teams should say f*ck that and not play over there. No need to make them a target when police can’t control what’s going on over there. No need to put both teams and fans that are going in danger.

I mean we make a team play in Chicago every other Sunday, so...

The NFL’s decision to ignore the massive unrest is unsurprising. This is going to be a disaster for anyone foolish enough to travel into a literal war zone.

Oh YEAH for sure!
I mean it’s not like there’s ever been a Paris concert hall shot up, killing 90 in the process or anything like that.

quote:Only 4 years ago the stadium had serious issues for the Champions League Final, something that entails far tighter security. They had huge issues at bottlenecks and crushes could have been serious. There were also big issues with gangs harassing and mugging the Liverpool and Madrid fans leaving. Saint-Denis (the suburb where the stadium is) has a heavy immigrant population too (~40% foreign born), so it will be a home game to a decent number of the past week’s rioters. It’s not a low crime area generally and I’ve never felt particularly comfortable in it

So yeah if the game is held no one’s probably dying in the stadium. The bigger issue is getting there and getting home which the authorities can only do so much about
If the terrorists take this week to regroup and want more, the game’s absolutely a target. Disrupting it would be a win to many. Even if it isn’t a target, security may not be something the Parisian and National police want to dedicate resources to if they have to deal with Round 2. Round 1 kicked their arse
They may publicly be showing confidence but behind the scenes the league has to be concerned. It’s good only 1 person died this past week (a protestor) but the nightmare scenario isn’t what happens at the game. The players will be fine getting there and during it. It’s the headline announcing serious injuries or heaven forbid a death of fans traveling to or from the game. The NFL desperately wants to avoid perception of blood on their hands
