Is the media still lauding the fearsome genius of mighty Brent Venables?

Brady and E adapted perfectly and owned him. Outcoached and outplayed.

well the QB draws slowed down the blitz
i have hollered for RB screens all year
we did not get those
but finally a WR screen that torched them
had we done that earlier the score woulda been alot worse
he kept cominga nd coming
yu cannot rely on hot routes all the time against man press
but clemsux had no choice couldnt play off or zone
even when they played man press with no blitz how do you conter that?
over the top and we did.
just shoulda went to screens earlier.

JFC Clemson had a great game plan.
You simply can’t stop Burrow and this O.
But they made us work, no doubt. No need to disrespect them. If we played again next year they’d probably smoke us.
But we won’t because we won’t be in the playoff. They will.

Venables is good but he’s no unicorn.
There was no reason to think an ACC coach would pull off what 14 other teams COULD NOT DO!
LSUs offense this year was unstoppable...and that is extremely rare to see.

I’ll give them some credit. They definitely had our offense confused real good there for a quarter. Now partly cause the refs were letting the defense play as physical as I have ever seen allowed. On one of those Chase was just mauled and no flag. But once the big pass to Chase happened for his first TD, their defense started slipping from their plan.

This surprised me. I kept yelling Go Deep the whole game. Chase had a step or 2 on the DB EVERY play. Final Score coulda been way worse.

It’s obvious that our staff was focused on risk mitigation this season in a sense. RB screens can absolutely blow up or go for a pick 6, and the coaching staff probably felt that they didn’t need to call them when we can jam it up the opposing defense’s asses to the tune of 40+ points every game on simple passing and running plays.
