Les does not know what he was thinking.

Steele is garbage. Defense will be pretty bad next year with a lot of guys leaving

since my thread go anchored , I will come here to air my grievances.

Now that Les won the power struggle, I am all but certain that Steele is going to stay. What is frustrating is that the offense is so fricking pathetic, that people don't care that this defense is basically the same as the 2008 defense that wasn't good enough. #loweringofstandards

Agree.
Steele is just not very good.

Is Bry'Keithon Mouton a prospect at linebacker? Dude is not a fullback at all. Do we have anyone who can play linebacker on the team if Beckwith leaves?

Why would Miles hire a guy whose philosophy doesn't mix with his personnel? No
Because this is exactly what miles does on offense.

does anyone else fear that because the last thing we saw was a game where the defense played great (against an offense whose fans want to fire the OC) Steele is now safe? or was he going to be safe no matter the outcome of this game?
the irrational fan in me wants to believe the former, while the realist in me believes Les was always going to let him stay no matter what.

People have been making excuses for Steele all year. I expect they will see that game as him making strides as opposed to what it really was, beating up a corpse on the other sideline.

I don't see how you could totally ignore that game especially with so many guys on defense having their best performances on the field.
If something similar happens in the bowl game only thing left to do would be to pray Beckwith stays for his senior year.

Other than aggy, LSU gave up the most points and yards it gave up all year at the end of the year. Thank God for Kevin Sumlin.
During the November stretch before aggy, LSU gave up 33 ppg and about 440 ypg.
I'm not sure why we want to put a ton on a performance against a team that Auburn held to 10 points.

I've been the first to say let's chill out on canning Steele but he is certainly making it hard on me.

That's fair enough. Recently, some people on this board (not you) have been saying that LSU's players improved later in the year once they became more familiar with the scheme. There is no evidence that supports that conclusion except an (admittedly) good performance against aggy--which even Auburn stopped.

I remember when a list of candidates came out. I think the consensus was that as long as it wasn't Steele, we could be happy with it. The guy can't get it done. He is an upgrade at recruiting at least. Only problem is that our defense isn't the net plus it has been for the last decade or so.
I melted down when they hired him. I'd been a loyal Les supporter since day 1. Then I came to my senses and got back on board....recruiting is the name of the game and I understood the strategy, replacing a shite lazy recruiter in Chavis with a hard working organizer in Steele.
I melted again after the Ole Miss loss and I haven't recovered.

I think many people did the same thing. My position has always been that it isn't an either/or thing. It is possible to get a good coach who is above average at recruiting too. LSU should endeavor to have the people that coordinate its three phases to be good at doing that job AND at recruiting.

How about promoting "O" to DC? Would be better than Steele...

give him another year or two.

Yeah, it's tough to learn a zone scheme but it seems our players aren't even getting better at knowing their responsibilities. That's on Steele.
My faith in him is faltering.
