It seems we can't get to the ball that is hit to left or right quickly....just asking.

Not slow, just not reading the ball off the bat correctly

No, just poor players at the corners.

Pearson and Stevenson are not fast.
But the issue is they aren't reading the ball off the bat at all

If you’ve played baseball or have watched it for a long time, it’s easy to recognize that they’re not getting a good jump on the ball when it comes off the bat. But if the OP has never played or is new to the game, I think it’s a fine question to ask — we can actually help him learn the game a bit faster.

Stevenson is fast. He does not read the ball off the bat well at all.

I know it doesn’t seem like it because of their builds (and Stevenson’s brother was fast AF), but I’m pretty sure Pearson is a little faster of the 2. They both have trouble playing the corner outfield spots as freshmen. I think a big reason is they likely both played CF in high school and aren’t used to the different angles off the bat.

They are both plus runners

Both of them also track balls like injured birds

At least Pearson can hit

This is probably true. Crews wasn’t great at reading the ball off the bat as a freshman last year. He has improved tremendously at that this year and he is great at it now.

Yes as are our infielders. We lack range at most positions.

Neither Thompson, nor Morgan (even injured) lack range.

Yes they do. Thompson can’t even keep his feet.

What happened to DiGiacomo? Better fielder and hitter than Stevenson.

Limited range = slow.

Haven’t you noticed? All year long how many balls just get through? Wd are not good defensively except at first and CF.
Guys lack range. That’s a big issue.
