I dont think it hurts LSU, but Tejas isnt the south and we dont need another Vandy.Never liked atm or Longhorns would vomit if they were let in :beatdeadhorse:

I think it could open up LSU's recruiting grounds. And texas's also. Upon arrival, ATM will become worse before getting better. Steeper competition before getting SEC recruits. Seeing the 6&7 win season every year will sway more kids from ATM and towards texas and LSU.

Idk, just a different perspective.

We're talking A&M. Not Baylor.

Yes! It absolutely does nothing to help LSU. We should block it.
My reasons:
It opens more of Lousiana recuits to A&M.
It opens Texas to everyone in the SEC, thus reducing the natural advantage (proximity) that LSU presently enjoys.

I think if A&M went to the SEC it would help us more than LSU. It would help us in East Texas and with La kids who want the SEC but either don't like LSU or ones who aren't offered by LSU. It would help LSU probably the most of any SEC school due to the proximity of LSU to Texas. You already get a fair number of Texas high school talent. There would be a period of adjustment for A&M in the SEC but our team in general is getter better each year and I think moving forward we would have success.

if they don't cheat (they're still #2 in the nation in ncaa sanctions) and we continue to be strong they won't hurt us. in fact, it may help us because we may get even more of the top texas athletes looking our way. a&m's culture simply does not appeal to as many as lsu's. having said that, i do think a&m going to the sec may improve their overall appeal to many high school athletes but as a counterbalance they will have a much tougher schedule. if we go through a tough period with several weak teams in a row, they would be in a better position to our recruit us. i feel good as long as miles is running the ship but a new guy might be trouble. i think lsu has learned their lesson about head coaches; going on the cheap is not the way to go. for years, we were one of the lowest paying head jobs out there.

surely you are joking. comparing a&m to vandy? in no way, athletically or academically is a&m like vandy. and just to complete the sweep, nashville is a great city and wonderful place to live; college station? gimme a break.

I disagree. A&M would benefit. The rest of the SEC would benefit. LSU would be hurt.

idon't think players from Texas come to LSU because they want to play in the SEC...i think they come because they want to play for LSU

I think they'll go to whichever of the two is winning.

UGA stand against inviting GA Tech, UF block inviting FSU, and USC protest inviting Clemson. Is LSU in the same boat with ATM?

Only USC protesting Clemson is true.

GT left the SEC, so we have never offered them back.

FSU was invited, they turned it down. Didn't want to leave the easy task of winning the ACC every year to actually having to compete for the conference title. Miami wanted in and the SEC turned them down.

I think LSU would be just fine, but it would help to have a Football program like that to the other great peograms,IMO that is the best move that A&M could make for them, and it would only make the SEC better.

I wouldn't say they are "in no way like Vandy" - at least on the academic front. If A&M joined the SEC they would instantly take the number 2 spot in academics right on Vandy's heals.

I do not believe that A&M stacks up to Florida at most levels as far as academic ranks go.

Maybe in terms of their Engineering program??

So if ATM joined the west who else would join? I heard a rumor that Oklahoma might be in play as well. If that is the case ATM and OU would both be in the west and someone would have to go to the east. Bama and Auburn?

I honestly think it could help LSU recruit in Texas. Texas people have no idea anything about LSU and Louisiana. I think the added exposure would help us. We never play in Texas, or almost never.

Yeah except for last year and this coming year. Though with Jerry's new diggs I can see us playing there more often for these type of blockbuster games as long as we stay high in the rankings every year.

I was mostly thinking Texas teams but yeah, I kinda goofed with that. Still though that's what, 3 times in the last 10 or so years?

Anyways, all I am saying is the extra exposure in texas could be a good thing.

Oh I thought you had it covered with the almost never; I was just saying, I think we might play in Dallas more often as long as things continue to go well for us.
