With UF and USCe already delivering most of FL and SC market how does including FSU+Clemson help. SEC does any thing at all, it will probably be courting VTech and UNC so that they can go into newer markets.
I agree with the idea of newer markets, however I base my assumption on the type of schools, fan-bases and match-ups that the SEC would want. Clemson and FSU are SEC-ready and matchups with current SEC members would generate national interest. Yes the same could be said with VTech and UNC but I do not see these two readily separating from their in-state partners.

No one is considering another scenario, the current 12 team SEC might actually be able to command similar money compared to expanded Big 10/Pac 10. If that is the case, why expand?
This is why I say there is no hurry. I am not sure that the moves bring these conferences to SEC level of football revenue but they will be closer. The SEC can wait a year or two to see how this plays out. Wait too long though and you risk getting caught or falling behind.

This is all about the money and that means football. The outcome will have more to do about a school's following than the current strength of their program.
The Texas schools left the old SWC back in the 80s over money. They left the small schools with small fan base behind (SMU, TCU, Houston and Rice). Ditto here (Iowa State, K State, Kansas, Baylor)
I do not see SEC picking up any of these leftovers(no offense to anyone).
SEC has no need to hurry but will start looking around. I expect they already have a list of schools and have already had discussions with several schools over interest. FSU, Clemson are obvious potential candidates. Nothing wrong with having 14 teams. Also, I would be surprised if we have heard the last of discussion of teams to PAC10.

Athletic scholarships are given out primarily in the basis of physical skills just like academic scholarships are given out based on academic capability. Like the academic scholar, the athletic scholar who cannot keep up his end of the bargain runs the risk of losing his free ride.
This is an excellent point. A scholar usually must maintain a 3.0 GPA and some cases better to keep their scholarship.
Also this is not exactly anything new. I have read several players over the years say their scholarship was pulled so as to be given to someone else. An example, Rob Bironas who kicks for the Titans has his scholarship pulled when Tuberville started at Auburn because Tuberville does not give kickers scholarships. Bironas had been the team's kicker He was not cut but no longer had a free ride. He transferred.
"Bironas attended Auburn University where he was a semi-finalist for the Lou Groza Award in 1998 after making 12 of 16 field goal attempts (including two successful 49-yard (45 m) tries with the four misses from 40+) and making all 18 PATs for a team-high 54 points. The following season, new head coach Tommy Tuberville kicked the preseason All-SEC kicker off the football team and replaced Bironas with the punter, Damon Duval.[1][2] Bironas later transferred to Georgia Southern University, where his brother was on the soccer team, for his final year of collegiate eligibility. While with the Eagles, Bironas won the 2000 NCAA Division I-AA National Championship, before returning to graduate from Auburn with a degree in marketing."

My son received this several weeks ago and it caught us by surprise. Last year they had several positive comments on LSU including pre-game atmosphere ranking.

I guess my question was two fold, which is the most difficult in general to win, and for us specifically was it more difficult to win the CWS or BCS Title.
Just saw this thread and in reading it I was going to say it is really two questions. I agree with the idea that basketball will the toughest to bring to BR.
The other question depends on which school. For some schools it is nearly impossible to win the BCS. A school not in a major conference must not only go undefeated, but have the leaders in the major conferences loss twice and then also be a media favorite. For many schools this is just not going to happen.

towards the end of the 01 season (espeically the sugar bowl), lsu's offense was astonishing. 3rd and 18 was nothing for them. and this was after teams knew josh reed was tearing it up and they STILL couldn't stop it. i've never seen an lsu team throw downfield more often AND more successfully
The only game I saw that year was Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Davey to Reed at its best. I still think of Reed as the best WR we have had in recent years. He just made it happen....

solid yet unspectacular
I believe this is the offensive philosophy of the LSU coaches.
They prefer "solid" ball control offense and keep moving the chains. If we break one, okay, that's great.

I hope both teams bring their best games.
It only makes the SEC look better.
Another game like Florida: GA wins but gets less credit.
An LSU romp: People discount GA because of Bame and LSU games.
FWIW, I see this game as too close to call.

re: Hats off to J. Lee!!!

J Lee is good enough for us to win and that is what matters.
He has shown great poise so far and has talent the coaches can shape to the game plan to. He has problems in certain areas and we can expect improvement as he gets more experience. Same goes for Hatch but Lee has the arm we need to win.
