I wonder why he is transferring. Sounds like a fantastic season for him.

Because Kentucky's coach is a massive douche, probably.

He’s not an option to my knowledge. But I expect another catcher to be added to the roster in the next couple of days.

Kentucky had 11 players enter the portal. Some were very good players. Mingione must be tough to play for.

He's the player to be named later that we get in the Dare Rosenthal trade.

Maybe Josh Randall ? Arizona commit. Would be sweet. He pitches also.

I'd be extremely surprised if he went anywhere other than Tenn, but Johnson did just start following him on twitter.

Nap, can you say whether this player will have to get a release from a previous LOI or has he not signed with a 4 year school yet?

No reason not to take a swing at Kessler. If he says no, fine, go after a younger option with upside. Johnson has had 2 good catchers in a row at AZ - not sure if talent evaluation or development.

Braden Doughty is gone and wouldn’t be surprised to see Wyeth transfer

Has to be him that he is referring to since he said it is a HS guy. Would definitely be a great get, especially at this stage of things.

Does anyone know if they sign LOI's for JUCO? How difficult is it to get out of them? I'd assume that it wouldn't apply since JUCO has their own organization and rules; so the NCAA isn't a governing authority for them.

Yes you can sign with both an NCAA team and a juco and attend one or the other without having to go through a release process.

But with coaching changes baseball players can often get out of LOIs since they sign so long before the potential change and then enrollment is so soon after. It’s not automatic but you see it pretty frequently, so that may be a possibility also. It’s how Zach Arnold ended up here.

Appreciate the info.

Was more curious on the JUCO stuff since Priester is currently signed with Meridian CC in the event he wasn't drafted or drafted high enough, which he ended up not drafted at all. Hopefully Johnson and crew, as well as his advisors, can talk some sense into him and convince him that his best path to a high draft pick and the majors is through LSU and not 1 year at a CC and then try the draft again, which is supposedly his plan.
