I know this was one of the reasons for lack of sucess in the past (AKA pick 6's)
You mean 3 years ago? When his career started as an inexperienced Frosh vs SEC defenses?

His field vision is much better than JJ's.

"I'd much rather he break the habit of throwing off his backfoot."

Me, too. JL's biggest problem in my opinion was that all too often his mechanics broke down under pressure with the most common result being the backfoot throw sailing on him.

Fortunately, I think he didn't do that nearly as much last year, and isn't true that JL has something like 2 picks since 2008. The sample size since then is not huge, but still cause for optimism that in more recent times, he is only throwing something like 1 pick for every 45 attempts IIRC.

You have to hope that Krag has or is working to correct his technique.

But, if you lob the ball because you aren't stepping into it, it allows athletes to make a play on it.

and sometimes, athletes of the other team....

Ok, consensus says that JL will play great and we will win ball games because of it! His production outside of pick 6's and INT's his RS year was actually pretty good. I have to imagine what his growth would have been like had he been starting the past 3 years.

He's going to be fine, but once again he's going to be thrown into the fire...BUT, he's as ready as he'll ever be!

I have no doubt and I think if you factor in the better protection he could be well improved. I'm hoping by the MSU game he's in a groove, putting up solid numbers and managing the game well.

Most people forgot just how bad our defense SUCKED that year. Playing from so far behind certainly led to many defenses teeing off on him.

And YET he still had a better rating than JJ had last year.

Not to mention the fact the coaches treated him like a 5th year senior and continually called plays where there was a high chance of failure.

3rd and 15 from your own 12 against Bama with just a few minutes in the half? frick it, run everybody deep with no check down and let er rip!

You'd be surprised how little college QBs actually look off their wr's and such.

If the running game is as good as expected, then JL will be OK...if not, he won't...it's that simple!

I'm surthe game plan is to eat up the clock as much as possible and throw long when the DBs start edging toward the line. That way the defense is not worn out by half time...
