Short snswer, yes. Do you know a major reason why? Many of you who talk a big game wouldn't dare put your money where your mouth is. MFers on this board talking about incentives and why can't BK donate, are the same MFers that will be yelling about losing a kid in the portal or to the portal or in high school recruiting.
You'll gladly spend money on that subscription to whatever crap you half watch or use monthly, pay north of 10 bucks on just ONE of those fast food meals or restaurant dinners.
All that damn alcohol or beer you drink a month when 10 bucks less will help out something you enjoy.
I simply feel like this. If you're an able body adult who works or makes money period and don't donate to the collective, don't open your mouth on not having enough talent.

The question is, is it too much to expect to be in the 12 team playoff every year?
I believe, yes. Reason is just math. We can only expect 3 SEC teams per year to make it. Some years 4 but can only bank on 3.
SEC: Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, A&M, Ole Miss. And you have to be higher ranked than all but 2 of those teams every year with an SEC schedule.
I don't find that to be realistic for any of the teams on the list, including us. I expect us to have runs of a few years in a row and to be competitive year after year.
IMO

No. Absolutely not. We are fricking LSU.

I have always expected us to be ranked 12 or higher at the end of each year. I'm not crazy about a 12 team playoff, that was always considered bad or mediocre in my book.

And Miles was fired for under-performing with the talent and $ at hand!
With a good coach, we should make it 7 out of 10, given the talent levels in Louisiana, even if we have under-performed for one reason or another.
We didn't hire and pay a top coach $100M to make it 5 out 10 times - that would be a disappointment.

Well we're back to expecting LSU to suddenly do things they've never did before, I don't understand that thought process.
As for BK's salary, that's just the market now.

I think people need to use correct terminology...
WANT vs EXPECT.
That goes for anyone who talks about Kelly's salary, and shite like that. He could make 2 dollars or 20 million, it won't affect our win total.
Reality, like some others have posted: SEC will get 3 to 4 teams in each year. Just looking at teams;
1) Alabama. Top team in the conference. They want to be in every year, you can expect them to make it probably 80% of the time.
2) Georgia, LSU, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, now Texas, Oklahoma. They also want to be there every year. UGA is on a peak, Tennessee and Texas are on an upswing, Fla, Auburn and Oklahoma are down, LSU is moving back into contention. I figure teams in this group could make it about 40-50% of the time, trading places.
3) A&M, Ole Miss- they want to be in Group 2 above. Maybe once or twice a decade.
4) Arkansas, Mizzou, South Carolina, Kentucky- close on the tails of Group 3. Occasionally close to consideration, might make it once.
Again, you have all these programs dumping money and resources into becoming better, and you will get only 3-4 teams a year.

I mean, I assume people enjoy the alcohol, a fast food meal, and Netflix…that’s probably why they buy it.

With the resources and the name, yes they should be in the playoff every year.
You are insane. The SEC will get 3, maybe 4 teams most years in the playoffs.
The SEC has 5 different teams that have played for and won the NC in the last 18 years. Now we also have Texas and OU that has joined, and teams like TN, OM, and even SC are players. That is 10 different teams right there. Even if you leave out OM and SC, that is 8 teams that expect to make the playoffs, with only 3 or 4 spots. If we made it 50% of the time that would be great. This isn't the Big 10 which only has 3-4 teams as most that are expecting it annually, with 3 or 4 spots available. With Michigan down this year, you had teams like Indiana that moved up because they are going to get their 3 or 4 spots no matter what.
Every other year would be great if you are in the SEC.

Exactly, the best LSU has ever performed was roughly 50% and now you've added Oklahoma, Texas, A&M, and Mizzou to the mix.

CFP every year should be the goal, but a realistic approach would be like 3/10-6/10. You aren’t competing for 12 spots, you’re competing for 1 of 8. All these schools have resources to battle every other year as well…
Alabama
Miami
Georgia
Notre Dame
Michigan
Ole Miss
Ohio State
Oregon
Penn St
Clemson
Tennessee
Texas
Texas A&M
Then you have schools that have similar resources but currently aren’t ready or suck…
Florida
Florida St
USC
Auburn
Oklahoma
Then you have schools that have actually made the CFP that we haven’t even discussed…
Washington
TCU
Michigan St
Cincy
If stars align for a school like Cincy, there’s no reason why they can’t some year for these like we are seeing now:
Boise
Arizona State
Indiana
SMU
Can’t leave out the Utah schools:
Utah
BYU
Seriously…ALL of these schools have the capability of making it any given year. That’s without South Carolina or the Tyson Chicken Razorbacks being discussed.
To suggest that LSU will be top 8 every year is to expect something that LSU has never come close to doing in its history. All it takes is some fluky shite like we are seeing now, an upset, a key injury, and your ship has sailed for the season.

With Kelly as HC, yes it is.

You know... I suspect that if LSU was in the playoffs each and every year, they would never win. I'd rather them be in the playoffs every other year and win it every 4. Somehow that seems reasonable even though it's a little greedy.
Posted on 12/6/24 at 6:28 pm to Champagne
We would have made it 1 maybe 2 years out of the past 10 had it been in place. lol

How many playoffs would we have made in past 7 or 8 years??
Posted on 12/6/24 at 7:00 pm to Champagne
NO, not too much to expect.
Too much talent in Luzianner (Except OL and QB) and LSU has all the Resources that's needed.
Coaching and Recruiting are the only things that should prevent it.
LSU a solid #31 in the current Top 25 with the "Also receiving Votes" trash. (In between Tuck Fulane and SWLAJC@L)
All the putrid MA's are squirting in their lace covered cheerleader panties at that #31 and they can't wait for the upcoming Mediocrity Bowl.
