Let me also say that if we don't win, we still have a chance to have a great season, with a team that was supposed to be a down year.

You're moving the goal posts. Exactly no one thought 2017 was going to be a down year.

Both comments are on par with my thinking. Your's being as close to what I was really trying to convey, lsualum96.

You are an idiot then. Making it to a NCG is what every fan dreams about for their team. At lease fans who are not brain dead.

I just want to win. Whichever category that one is in, that’s me.

Being a realist makes the improbable events all the more special.

If you think this team is capable of what others might call impossible, then what's there to be excited about when it happens, except for throwing it in the "realists" face?

You're just doing the same thing that you're accusing the realists of, you're just on the other side of it. You want to be able to say "HA, I always believed in them when you guys didn't!"

I'm a realest. But still excited for the game, we have 10-15% chance of winning, I'll still be making sarcastic comments.

ext to nobody ever said that 2017 was going to be a "down year"

The powers that be that made the decision to hire Ed Orgeron said that we wouldn't skip a beat with the hire and Coach o even said himself that we would be in the playoffs this year.

The "down year" talk didn't start up until after the two humiliating losses in September.

Not really interested in what the "powers that be" said, or what the coach said. Everyone who follows the game knows we were losing a massive amount of talent and would be playing a lot of young guys. So yes.............this was supposed to be a down year. LAST YEAR was the team that was supposed to be loaded....................and they blew it. But certainly not THIS year's team....

So, perhaps when I say down year you understand it to mean a BAD year. I didn't expect THAT, nor did anyone else for that matter. But no way did anyone predict this to be a championship year. If we win nine games we're doing good. That was the sentiment before the season started and we appear to be well on our way to that accomplishment. But to think this team was going to contend for the SEC championship.............with all those SEC road games no less...........was foolhardy.

We did lose some talent, I wouldn't say it was a massive amount though. and we've played lots of young guys year after year. Losing to Mississippi State in the fashion we did and losing to Troy, in any fashion, is unacceptable.

Coach o must have or he shouldn't have said that LSU would be in the playoffs.

Well, I didn't think we would contend for a championship this year and my guess is you didn't think we would and whoever wrote the three articles you posted didn't think we would contend for a championship, but the point I was trying to make in my original post was that there was a ton of people here on the rant that drank Coach o's kool-aid of this team making the playoffs. And up to the Miss. St. beat down and the Troy loss, there were lots of posts going on and on about how talented this team was. After those two losses, the narrative changed to we lacked depth and talent and that an 8 win year we would respectable and that 9 wins would be fantastic. Stuff that was never consider acceptable in years past.

And all those road games except for the bama game (and Miss. St. to an extent) are against teams that are having terrible years. With the games left to play (and the horrible losses to date) anything less than 10 wins is a disappointing season in my opinion.

I'd argue that it's precisely BECAUSE we love LSU football that we offer legitimate critique. We want the program to be the best it can be.
That's my thinking.

Most of the Snowflake Pump Lump Pumpnuts could totally care less if the program is the best it can be.

They're satisfied with the program being the most mediocre it can be.

Low (How low can you go?) standards of excellence for themselves and the LSU football program.

Keep those SPLP's away from me and out of my space. They smell bad!.............

I look forward to the day when we don't have to lie to ourselves in order to think we'll beat Alabama. The program will just be good enough to where there are logical reasons to know why we'll win. No spin required.

This is the dream of every other team's fanbase as well. On paper, LSU is not supposed to win but that's why they play the games. So don't get your hopes up this weekend, that's ok. But I do have a problem with the geniuses that insist that we have NO chance.
