I get that...it makes sense...but he still is a possibility to start because he has the best stuff and the stamina to give you several good innings. Gilbert on a very short leash will probably go, but Hess can give you a realistic 5 if he's on and a real chance to have a lead to protect.

Hess is the best pitcher on our staff, in terms of nasty pitches coming from the hill. He's an near unhittable. He deserves a shite to get more work in. He's earned it.

He will be the closer or long relief later in the tourney. But next season he will be the Friday Night Ace.

I think what needs to be kept in mind is that Hess needs to stay as a reliever regardless of the situation. We need him to come in when we need him most. With that said, this is win or die, so have him pitch an inning or so in the next game, and then give him an inning or say the day after if and when he is needed.

Then you dont pitch him til game 2 of game of CWS.

He throws to hard to sustain that for multiple innings.

CPM will need to get the Bergman eye when selecting pitchers from here out.
Every one of our pitchers has the ability to shut OSU down. The problem is,
outside of just a few they have been wildly inconsistent. Time and time again
in postseason, Bergman was able to look the pitchers in the eye and knew
who was going to turn in the performance of a life. CPM seems to have done
the opposite and relief pitchers tend to wilt under the pressure instead of shine.
