I've noticed Jacoby playing around the line of scrimmage a lot more the last two games. Play calling has certainly been more aggressive since the horrible 2 half against Old Piss.

No. The difference, we finally went to a blitz package, as opposed to the rush 3 and drop 8 BS the "defensive genius" has used most of the year. Finally moved Delpit closer to LS where he could make plays not 20 yds down field serving NO purpose. Let a PLAYMAKER make plays, like last night and last year!!

No but he helps to get more players to the ball and he being out there helps to use the other guys at their strengths and play faster with more instincts. Basically it’s more of a TEAM Defense with certain players starting together. I think we’ve found the right pieces and my goodness if they get better and better can you imagine what we will look like by the time the playoffs start?

Aranda has showed two different personnel groupings this year but it’s very clear to me that with Hampton playing cover 1, Delpit at the LOS with Brooks and using these different blitz packages to get pressure that we’re a much better defense.

That showed at the end of the Ole Miss game and throughout this game and if you go back and watch any of our games with Brooks in there we’re a better defense rushing the passer. We can use all of our LBs to blitz imo. It doesn’t have to be an outside LB, our inside guys are just as good rushing imo and we can rotate the safeties playing as our LBs when our LBs rush the QB.

Imo it’s more important to be versatile and confusing to a QB and his OL then to create the perfect match up on every down. Here’s the deal though LSU is so talented and versatile with its size and speed at every position that it can do both create matchup issues AND come at the offense in many different ways and angles. Oh and BTW LSU gets one of its best pass rushers back for this championship game against GA.

I wouldn’t change a thing just because we get him back either. I’d bring every blitz that is known to man and bring it with every personnel grouping I can put together in a weeks time. If we put the pressure on Fromm that we did on Monde then LSU is going to blow the doors off of this team. With their defense being damn good I can still see LSU scoring in the 30’s so 38-10 is what I’m hoping to see.

No one and I mean no one has come close to slowing this offense down this season. Auburn was the only one and that was because Joe Burrow played one of his worst games of the season if not the worst game. We had opportunities to blow that game open as well. We killed ourselves in that game if you go back and watch it. Penalties, TOs, inaccurate throws, bad OL play, the running game wasn’t where it is now either. Maybe I’m wrong but GA just doesn’t scare me but that’s usually when I’m utterly surprised. Let’s hope the team isn’t surprised by anything GA comes at us with. Go Tigers!!

I thinknidealy We wanted a deep safety back there to free up Delpit to do everything

Without Harris Delpit has had to play deep

I love how he kept moving the ref out the way so he wouldn't be in his way

You can tell he's a good one already.
Def helps having another safety cause it's frees everyone up to play their right positions

Dude that’s a great point and spot on. I bet they practiced all offseason to have Delpit roaming and Harris doing all of the covering in the backend.

I remember our coaches saying that Harris being hurt would affect our defense in a big way and at the time I brushed it off but this is exactly how and why they said this. It basically reset our entire defense to a more safe type of defense instead of attacking style with all these blitz packages they talked about all offseason.

I remember them specially saying that they’ve implemented tons of blitz packages that we weren’t able to use before because of the personnel groupings. I guess Aranda now trusts Hampton enough to use these packages now. Either that or the coaches all said F it, let’s go for it because what we doing now isn’t working. Wow what a defense we will have in the future when we have all the pieces at all 3 levels. Hopefully we land the guys we want and need along the DL at LB and at safety the next couple of years. If so we’ll be in great shape. We need more athleticism at the DE spot in a bad way. That and we need more size at the rush end spot.
Chassion is great but without help from the blitz he’s easy to pick up with his size. If we would have let him use his speed and athleticism all year roaming along the line and standing up instead of hands in the ground then he would have had much more production. You saw that last night with him looping around on the stunts.

If we use Chassion, Brooks, Delpit, Stevens, Hampton, Stingley, Phillips, Queen, Clark, Divinity, Thornton and Anthony in different groupings at different times in the game all being able to rush the passer in certain packages this team will be elite. Aranda has the brains, let’s put it all together please. I’ve been wondering why we haven’t been using the blitz more but having that cover guy they trust back there could have been the issue all this time.

Idk you would think that we could have come up with something even without Delpit at the line and playing coverage. We haven’t seen many corner blitzes or I haven’t seen us use our personnel like we could have and should have. This is a very versatile defense. LBs that can play coverage and safeties that can tackle and play the LOS like a LB. I hope Aranda starts coming at these offenses with all types of blitzes from here on. It proved to work wonders last night and that was a decent team we blew out.

I’m very impressed with Hampton at safety. He will likely start next year.

I wonder how soon he quits baseball

Yeah I think That all makes sense.

We want to use Delpit a million different ways and we’ve sorta been forced to use him one way because no one else could play deep safety.

What happened to Eric Monroe? Seems Hampton has passed him up.

Monroe was in street clothes last night. He has been banged up with injuries this year.

Hampton playing deep coupled with Vincent and Flott holding down the slot is a the football you want to see from LSU. Because that means Stephens can finally play at the line where he balls out and you can move Delpit all over the field which is a nightmare for OC to game plan against.

I loved how we subbed out Vincent and Hampton almost every 3 plays to change our looks up.

Mond isn’t a shitty qb by any means but that early pressure flustered him and the packages in the secondary aren’t adjustable either.

Losing Harris earlier this year hurt more than we realized it would.

I need to watch more film to get an idea for what packages 14 played safety versus when we brought in 5 as our FS. It seemed like every other play but I struggled to get a good read on the package design. When we go dime, they were both out there plus 25 and 9.

They’ve been trying to find somebody to fill the 3rd safety void that was vacated when Todd Harris went down. Hampton has stepped up and has taken over that spot and provided stability at that position.
