It would be nice for a return but you've got to say thank you and wish him well.

someone posted earlier that Zeringue came to LSU after being a 3rd round draft pick....after he first got drafted & his performance in the CWS, i was 99% sure he was gone...however, the longer he holds out the better it is for LSU

Josh Fields (the closer for UGA) was drafted in the 2nd round by the Braves (hometown team) after his junior year. He returned for his senior season. I'm not saying that DJ will do the same but crazier things have happened.

IF you consider the relationship Coach Mainieri has with the Cubs GM Hendry, I'd say it's a slam dunk DJ is going pro.

The chance of DJ coming back has got to be less than 1%.

Schimpf, on the other hand, bears watching. I might give us a 25% chance of getting him for another year.

FWIW, which is probably nothing, his girlfriend wore cubs attire to the championship celebration, but heck, maybe she just likes the cubs anyway? not like his draft position wouldn't tell you he was most likely gone anyway, unless he is one of those guys who cares more about being a tiger for one more year than receiving that nice signing bonus. i dont know if anyone can answer this question 100% positive, because the poor kid might have not even made up his mind yet

DJ is gone. Was offered close to 1 million per someone who knows him well.

DJ has a different opportunity than most college players. He is only a sophomore so he can still use that as a bargaining chip. He can play next year and get drafted again. Possibly a first round pick. I think he will probably leave, but I actually think his play at second at the end of the year could actually improve his stock a lot for next year.

Someone I know talked to this person today and they said he had already signed. I said Bull shite because everyone would already know about it, but the guy is pretty closely connected to DJ. Maybe they're just keeping it hush hush.

What reason would DJ have to keep it hush hush? Just wondering?

I have no Idea, that's why I was skeptical at first but the person is fairly close to the situation.

I thought he had a chance of coming back to, but apparently all the people who heard he wasn't happy about the move to the outfield were right, i've also heard from someone who talked to him that he doesn't like Coach Mainieri, and isn't coming back. It's ashame, he was my favorite player.

Josh, DJ is my favorite also. He has to be a great guy the way he handled the move from SS to 2nd and in my opinion should have been named CWS MVP. DJ batted .444 in CWS with 12 hits in 6 games, scored 9 runs, on base % over 500 w/o making any errors.
I think he is gone but I hope not. If so,Good luck DJ-- I'll see in Chicago!!
