Sure, Simmons could benefit from another year in college especially to develop his jump shot, but to think he would pass up millions of dollars to do is insane

He wouldn't benefit more than he would in the NBA...and it would cost him money. He's not choosing money over development. He's choosing money and development over development...and you can make the case that he'll get much better development in the NBA.

Probably..... but ya gotta admit, no one would have guessed we would have been this inconsistent at the beginning of the season, particularly after we got hornsby/victor back. Its mind boggling.

Making millions and playing basketball 24-7 will improve his game dramatically, their are no restrictions on how much time he can practice. Plus he'll be playing against the best players in the world every night! So again why should he stay and have to go to class all the time when he can come back and finish his degree when he's done playing quite easliy.

Say what you will, Ben Simmons will be the #1 overall pick without a doubt, but denying the fact that another year of college ball could help him in certain areas is about as moronic as calling the OP a moron.

What can or will he learn at LSU that he can't learn in the NBA making millions of dollars playing against the best players in the world and focusing solely on basketball? I don't understand the get better in college argument when you will be a top ten pick in any draft. They are investing a top ten pick in you they will give you absolutely every oppurtunity to succeed before giving up on you.

Exactly! They'll pay former players to come in and show him the ropes, hell look at Minnesota has done with Towns they basically are paying KG 10 million dollars just to mentor this kid.

I'm not denying we aren't as good as expected, but to say he isn't making a difference is flat wrong. We lose to N. Florida, Vandy, Ole Miss, and Arkansas without him.

I'll put it to you this way. If he could have entered the draft after his freshman year of high school, he would have. The NBA doesn't draft a player because he is polished. The NBA drafts on potential. Ben Simmons has the most potential of any prospect since Kevin Durrant. He would have legitimately been a top 5 pick as a freshman in high school.

There is something to be said for sticking around another year, living the college life for a bit and just being a young man without much responsibility.

Once you hit the NBA, basketball becomes a job and the responsibility much greater.

Having said that, "he gone".

Ben Simmons is touted as a better prospect than Anthony Davis.

ok, picture yourself winning the lottery (millions)and decide you'd rather pass it up and play the lottery next year instead because you'd feel more settled and secured at your job and life...did anyone ever tell you better to have than to have not?..... ..and I do understand there's a salary cap for Rookies joining the NBA..just saying the sooner the better!...

I also like how this is used as a reason why he should stay. Because we all know he will have a tougher time chasing girls as "the next Lebron James" living in LA playing for the Lakers than he does in Baton Rouge.

Does 16 thumbs up mean that there are 15 other morons besides myself. That make me feel better. Just so you know, my view is that of a 68 year old man. My view of life is much different that those of 19,20 year old students. I could write a book about things I would have done differently if I could do over. I'm enjoying the backlash over my comments, however it doesn't change my mind.

Blake Griffin is 6'10 with excellent vision and ball handling abilities. Simmons may be a tad better in those categories, and I emphasize "may", but Griffin also has a really good jumper (which he developed in the NBA).

Griffin does not have his handle and vision. Griffin is a better shooter, though. Griffin is very good in those areas, though.
