Is anyone here nervous

that O actually won't get fired? If you are, let me ease your mind. It's 100% going to happen. Smart people are working through all the things many on here seem to think are a mystery to the decision-makers. Woodward gets it. He knows whats at stake. He knows Ed is a bafoon. He knows he can hire 15 great coaches in other sports and lose his job if he screws up on 1 football coaching hire! Kim Mulkey can't save him if he screws this up.
All that being said...he may or may not get this hire right. I personally feel like he will hire the antithesis of Miles/O which would look something like a Mario Cristobal type(Not actual Cristobal). He will not hire a cartoon character. He will hire a serious-minded professional.
In the final analysis, will the coach that SW hires this year be a "home run"? Nobody knows and won't for 2-3 yrs, but you can bet your house on the fact that he WILL be hiring a new football coach...in 2021!

Ed Orgeron and Les Miles somehow won championships at LSU
We have everything else in place except maybe compliance to win more. All we need is an intelligent coach who can recruit.

O will be let go at some point this season. Woodward will make a decent hire. Any of the names being thrown around would be better than where we are now.

Cristobal is basically another Miles/O….great recruiter, former line coach that doesn’t run the offense or defense.
A little more polished? Sure, but all-in-all comes from the same mold of O and Miles…CEO coach that is know as an excellent recruiter but is totally dependent upon coordinator hires.
Cristobal also has something else in common with O…they’ve both been fired from lesser jobs before.

He doesn't have to go 4-8. If he manages to win 3-4 more games, he's still gone. It's personal now...the university has been embarrased...he's not now or ever been worth the baggage he brings...Woodward ain't re-living this nightmare again. Anything positive CEO does now is like putting lipstick on a pig!

I am in the camp that O will lose his job, but not until the season is over. There is no one on the coaching staff with head-coaching experience, right? Ed's too much of a narcissist to hire coordinators or position coaches that are more competent than he.

Local sports guys said before the season 7-5 and he was definitely gone and 8-4 was a maybe. Throw in all of the PR issues he's had I see no way he's not gone.

I’m amazed at how much full melt is going on with this issue. Everything is laughable. It’s almost as though this site is fueling the running jokes about LSU nationally.

This is accurate. Whoever takes his place, the melt will be full on.
The melt will really be on if the replacement cannot turn it around in two seasons. Then we will want another coach, and a shitty two season cycle begins.
