Due to the fact that our offense has been incredible and our defense has been atrocious, I feel like nobody is paying attention to our special teams.

It sucks.

KR and PR are at a point where if we fair catch it, it's considered a home run. I'm not even sure Clayton has attempted to return a single PR this season.

It's obviously been overshadowed by the D but special teams needs to get better next year because it's certainly not a strength at this point.

Why worry about punt return yards when you have an offense that scores at will

Not really. Solid kicker. Decent coverage teams
Outside of the fumble last night KR has not been awful.

Punt return continues to be a mystery but with this offense I’m very happy jus to fair catch and turn it over to Daniels

Don’t even risk fumbling.

At this point it is what it is
The rules have all but neutered special teams

We don’t need decent punt or kick returns to score. We need them to not turn the ball over.

I would be. Punt returns are basically an afterthought. Clayton is just there to fair catch. But our defense hardly forces enough punts to worry about it.

Because at some point we'll have an offense that CAN'T score at will, and we'll still have these special teams.

Other than punt returns, what’s been bad about the special teams this year?

And regarding punt returns, I have a feeling that Clayton is instructed do nothing risky. Just secure the ball and give it to the offense.

Next year, when the offense is less dynamic, that will change.

Maybe but he’s only punted like 17 times all year.

Kicking/punting and coverage are improved, but returns aren't a helluva lot better than the defense just to be 100% frank about it.

We don’t have much range for field goals, but our punter group seems solid enough.

You hit the nail, have largely escaped scrutiny bc we have needed a good House cleaning all season.

I watched our two punters warming up after halftime last night. Neither one can punt out of their own shadow. Knuckleballs that travel maybe 30-35 yards, with no rush. At least Clayton can catch, but all he’s done is allow our offense to add more to their yardage totals. I miss the great returners of the past decade.

I was thinking last night about how historically bad the defense is to have no one complaining about special teams
