Blue seems to get a lot of hate around here. That he only torched "shitty teams".... Well a lot of other RBs got chances against the same teams, and they didn't look as good.

I think he was our best back last year when he got carries.

The way I feel too.

I have zero doubts that Blue could rush for 1500+ yds at a school like Wisconsin.

One could argue that Blue got his carries after the game was in hand (opposition quit caring) and the other team was worn out (from Ware up the middle 200 times) though.

UGA sure looked like they'd quit when Blue ran for that long TD. the FB (I think it was Stamp) couldn't even find anyone to block.

He is a great all around back.

Best pass blocker out of our RBs for sure with SW right behind him..

From talking to a couple of NFL draft analysts, Blue is someone the scouts like due to his size and explosiveness through the hole. His tendency to run too upright is something that concerns them.

But when it comes to LSU’s trio of junior backs in Ford, Ware and Blue, it’s Blue that has the most upside at the next level, according to scouts we’ve talked to.

ETA: If that info needs to be taken down, go right ahead. It's a couple weeks old, so I wasn't sure if the statutes of limitation had run out.

I remember the Florida game when blue had big run and all of,tiger stadium started chanting blue blue blue I loved that. I,will say with talent we have I like to see all of,them geting touches, and I will be upset with, the, coaches if hill comes in and take blue's spot even if he,is real good, hill could red shirt

Name one good reason why he isn't the back to get the majority of the touches

imo, there isn't one good reason that is known outside of the staff and team who see him and the others in practice. all of our backs are nfl quality. what a great problem to have. LSU has a history of damn good rb's but i've never seen this many on the same team. incredible.

I would love to see the split go something like this:
Blue---35%
Ware---20%
Hilliard---20%
Ford------20%
Others---5%

Yall better get ready to squeeze Jeremy Hill in. He is not going to sit this year and dont be surprised if Hilliard and Hill see a lot of action at the others expense...

if you look at the stats blue capitalized on lesser teams

Oregon 1 carry 2 yards
Northwestern 15 53 1td 3.5ypc
Moo State- 0 0 0
west virgina 2 21 1td
kentucky 16 72 1td *ware got hurt in the first and was sat
florida 14 70 1td
Tenn 4 17 0
Auburn 5 17 0
Bama 0 0 0
WKU 9 119 2 tds 13.2ypc
ole miss 4 74 18.5ypc
Arky 0 0 0
Georgia 8 94 1td 11.8ypc
Bama 0 0 0

his stats are drastically inflated by getting long gains on few carries

Blue is great for what he does "in the second half". I guess I'm one of the few that thinks he does well when the other teams are wore out. I can't remember him doing well in the first half of the games he played in. Like the replay of the Auburn game today! Blue has great speed, but runs high for between the tackles; especially in the first half of games. Poor Ware. That dude is the one wearing down the defenses for Blue to blow by later in the game. Not really poor Ware, but he plays a major role in Blue's success. Now Hilliard looks extremely good for the type of back we use Ware for. I think Ford and Blue should be used more in the second half, because of speed and the North to South runners get the bulk of the carries in the first half. Flame away.

One could also argue Ware doesn't deserve 35% if he hasn't improved a LOT since last year. 4.0 ypc shouldn't cut it if we have guys who can get close to 6.5+ ypc.

Fwiw, thats a very flawed argument.

We used Ware like a battering ram last year, softening up the linebackers so Blue and Ford could use their speed against them.

Blue is our best all around back.

The kid just gets yards

He can easily be a starting NFL RB

I love Blue, but that's not hate. It's just healthy skepticism.

I understand Blue is a fan favorite but I want to see him play more against good teams over a season. I am not sure Blue played enough to determine he is a great pass blocker or pass catcher. I see Blue as having the size Miles likes but Hilliard, Ware, and Hill have the running style Miles wants. Miles isn't worried about running outside or breakaway speed. Miles wants his backs eating up yardage north and south. I can't see Ware being tossed to the side. Hilliard and Hill were put on this earth to play for Les Miles.

Well seeing the pics and with everybody saying he's lost a lot of weight, I think Hilliard completely takes over the run game. If he can maintain that power, and also increase his speed with that loss, lookout.

It's only been last year when Miles did a RB by committee type of deal. Since he's been here he's had a feature back. Hester, Scott, Ridley, were consistently claiming 18-20+ carries a game. Since he has all this talent back here, he decides to go with the hot hand. Reminds me of USC when they had their stable of backs a few yrs ago.

And to OP, yes he is the most complete back but Hilliard cuts about as good as him and is waaay more powerful. It's good to have a back that can receive, but it's not necessary. Like I said about a month back, it should be Hilliard and Blue commanding the most snaps. Even though I like Ford, I think he'll really fall behind without the option game.
