Is 34 wins the first three years possible with Coach O?

Or are we looking at a Nick Saban caliber of 26 wins?

Or 27 wins, Miles’s last three years?

I think Miles left a little more talent than Dinardo did

Saban had more to work with than 27 freshman. Just saying...

No O just has to win a national championship in year three and then you can start making comparisons. Fair?

I want him to succeed because that means LSU football is good. But it honestly worrries me that he is not elite on one side of the ball and very reliant on coordinators for X’s and O’s philosophy.

I have a counter question though. If O does win a natty within three years do his critics accept him?

Of course.

I’m not really trying to have a dick measuring contest here between our last three coaches; I am just trying to gauge where we are compared to the last three.

I do like where we are headed with this young team though.

He inherited a team that was 1 game away from going winless in conference play. O did not have near the same handicap.

Guys, Anyone who thinks Saban walked into as good a situation as Miles or Orgeron is daft.

The only reason this narrative exists is that years ago some posters wanted to pretend that Saban wasn’t the sole factor in LSU’s return to greatness. As the years went by, and Bama became nearly unassailable, the foolishness of this thinking became evident.

I think that’s fair actually (despite that being 28 if McNeese isn’t cancelled).

Although, you don’t fire a guy for the next guy to get the same results. Considering that was by far the worst three year stretch of Miles’ career, we should be well above that if we are expecting improvement. Even one more win per year puts the line at 30 wins in three years.

I think that’s a good bar for judging success on the hire. He should get 10 this year (would be guaranteed if he hadn’t blown Troy).

That’s 20 wins in the next 2 seasons. No one should complain if he does that.

Make it happen coach.

I'm not a huge O fan, don't hayw5the guy but was still a bad hire. This narrative does bother me, was Miles elite on either side of the ball? No. Miles only failure was not leaving one side of the ball alone. I get your point but it can be done.

I’d say 34 is close. If he gets over 30, that would be a huge success.

This is exactly what most good coaches do. One of a HC’s main jobs is to get the players playing in harmony with each other and their Coordinators.

So far, it looks like O is beginning to mesh well with his players, recruits, and coordinators.

What side of the ball are Urban Meyer and Dabo elite on?
What side was Bobby Bowden elite on?

Bob Stoops was supposedly elite on defense but had not had an elite defense in at least 7 years before he retired.

Best case scenario, he wins 10 games in 2017. So he needs to find 24 more over the next two years. I don't see that happening. You have Miami in 2018 and Auburn, Florida and A&M on the road. It will be tough.

Edit to add: At least I think UF is on the road. What's happening with that series is a bit confusing.

I'm not an Orgeron fan but I would take him over Miles and Cameron
