If we go 8-4 this board will implode

Sorry. Look at LSUs roster that O messed up. 4-4 in the SEC is probably what to expect. If LSU goes 5-3 in the SEC that is a bit better than expected with what O left

This has been asked and answered a few times the last week, including mine where I said we were and it would take several years to recruit the kind of O and D linemen to go toe to toe with Bama. We are not here to celebrate 9-3

Very much so.
Urban Meyer's first year records:
- 2001 Bowling Green 8-3
- 2003 Utah 10-2
- 2005 Florida 9-3
- 2012 Ohio State 12-0
Nick Saban's first year records:
- 1990 Toledo 9-2
- 1995 Michigan State 6-5-1
- 2000 LSU 8-4
- 2007 Alabama 7-6 (vacated)
Dabo Swinney's:
- 2009 Clemson 9-5
Kirby Smart's:
- 2016 Georgia 8-5
Brian Kelly's:
- 1991 Grand Valley State 9-3
- 2004 Central Michigan 4-7
- 2007 Cincinnati 10-3
- 2010 Notre Dame 8-5
Those are the records of some of the best coaches the sport has to offer at the moment, and as you can see, 8-10 wins seems to be a reasonable expectation. Undefeated would be atypical, as would anything under 8 wins.
We're also losing our OC, possibly our DC, lots of assistant coaches, our QB, likely our RB, some offensive playmakers, key players in our secondary, etc.
So given that, I would really pump the brakes on any expectations to be greater than 10 wins. 10 or 9 would be phenomenal given the state of LSU football, 8 would be making expectations, 7 or 6 would be underperforming, and anything lower would be concerning. We brought Kelly in for the long haul to rebuild LSU and its culture, and that may take a couple of years.

Define rebuild… we just won 6 games while playing like arse all season. 9-3 or 10-2 isn’t out the realm of possibility next year. 1 or 2 wins should come from coaching alone

We been rebuilding for 2 years now, and BK will expedite matters.

Depends what we do in the transfer portal. It will be interesting to see. The sec west is getting stacked. I wouldn’t be surprised if we take a step back though. We are losing a lot. Also will depend on what players come back for a senior year.

What’s realistic?
Let’s see… we don’t have a starting QB yet and we’ll lose probably 4 of our starting OLinemen.
Additionally, if we sign a MAX of 32 new players to the roster, we’ll be sitting somewhere between 72 and 75 players going into fall camp. That’s 10 or so under the 85 limit and we’ll be young in a lot of places.
Lots of holes to fill.
And we play in the toughest division in college football.
8 wins is ok. 9 and 4 including the bowl game would be a strong rebound season for us.

None of those coaches had the luxury of free agency (transfer portal). If used properly, a rebuild here should be 9 win seasons. With the right "scheme" LSU can compete with anyone. Maybe Kelly can take a page from Will Wade on the use of the transfer portal. LSU BB team will simply reload every year. Same should be expected from the football team.

I’m expecting 6-6 and hoping for better

9 wins would be pretty cool.

The same as this year . We have a long row to hoe. If we get great recruits we will do better . It will depend on the freshman next season

I've learned over the last 3 years that literally anything is possible. So I don't know how to answer this question.
Yup. I think what separates us between being good vs potentially great is how well we work the portal for OL and if we can keep Myles on board. Accomplishing those two will be paramount.

$9.5 million a year. There are no rebuilds. He better hit the ground running for SEC Championships. IMO

Should be expected to win 9 or 10. 8 is absolutel floor.

We are 11-11 in our last 2 seasons. Our healthy roster is deficient now. It is hard to see us better than 8-4. Of course much depends on how our opponents play against us. Only alabama probably is beyond our ability to beat in 2022.

Prepare for a rebuild but a chance to be better than most think.
I agree.
