Into the wild (N2daWild) wild baseball predictions

These are meant to be low percentage against the mainstream predictions, so they might all be wrong lol.
1. Skenes won't be a two-way player at LSU. He's not catching, which I predicted before he announced to a series of downvotes. He is too slow for the OF. So that leaves 1B and DH. The problem is he isn't alone. Morgan, Beloso, White, Jones, Travinski and Frey will also spend time there. He will have to be in the top three of those guys to hit his way in. Sure it could happen, I'm predicting he won't.
2. That leads to me to predictions number 2. That same list of guys I just listed, might push Morgan into the OF at least part time. There are those that believe his future is in the OF anyway. I just feel there are more bats at 1B then in the OF. Morgan will be competing for 2 spots in the OF with Pearson, Kling and Stevenson. It could be that Kling and Pearson push Morgan to 1B but I'm predicting they at least share some time with him in the OF.
3. Ackenhausen and Moffett will log more innings then Noot and Shores in 2023. I think Ackenhausen will be our top lefty and Moffett is coming on. I think both of the guys have more pitches to go longer outings. Noot and Shores might have more long term potential but I think their first year will be limited to an inning or two on the weekend.
4. Neal will start game one at catcher. I'm a little unsure about this one. Milazzo will provide leadership and experience behind the plate and hopefully an improved bat. Neal will have to hit to have a chance at this but I'm predicting he will.
These are low percentage predictions and I'm sure you guys will tell me how wrong I am. I'm okay with that because you will probably be correct. I do like hearing your thoughts though and feel free to make some bold predictions of your own.

Duck. For some reason saying anything about Morgan and the outfield brings out some serious hatred on this board.

I think skenes will definitely hit and be a two way player. I just think it comes at dh. I also dont think travinski, jones, or frey will play much at first, if at all

Lol. I'm ready for it. I actually disagreed when posters suggested that last year. This year might be different. Dugas will probably have to move to IF. I'm not crazy about White at 3B, but I haven't seen him play yet. I didn't like Berry there, but I was wrong about that.
Then you have guys like Skenes, Jones, Travinski and Frey that can hammer a baseball. Oh and Beloso who was our starting DH before his injury. Now that I'm thinking of it. If Jobert is our DH, that put more pressure on one of those guys moving to 1B.
Kling might be the biggest obstacle to Morgan in the OF, so we will see.

Because it doesn't matter where he will play when he plays pro ball. Tre' Morgan is one of the best, if not THE best, first basemen in college baseball. And that is where he'll play at LSU. No hatred from me, though.

It is certainly possible. He does have a lot bats to beat out to DH though.

You take a hit if you put anyone else at 1B. I agree, but it might be worth it.
The most likely and popular scenario is White 3B, Morgan 1B and Skenes DH. I'm just having a hard time ignoring Jobert, Beloso, Jones, Frey and Travinski. It might turn out that way, but I have my doubts.

My opinion - the ceiling of this team requires Morgan in the OF so that we can hide White at 1st and we put better defense at 3rd. However, we cannot reach our ceiling and afford ourselves the luxury of doing that unless we have a SS and 3B that can make accurate throws to 1B all season.
We also saw last year CJJ did not value defense at 3B above more offense in the lineup. He could have very well promised White 3rd base and if he did then Morgan is your 1B again 100% of the time.

If Jordan Thompson is once again the SS, then Morgan will be anchored to first base—or better be.

Because I just watched LSU put together one of the worst defenses in the country last year, so I want the best defensive 1st baseman at 1st base. That’s the reason.

Losing Carter Young was really bad luck, especially if the rumors about Simon are true. It weakens our infield and does force Morgan to 1B more. That being said, there are a lot of guys at DH that can play 1B.

Let’s not bat the guy who hit .410 for a season and has power.

How long has Beloso been at LSU? How much eligibility does he have? I feel like he has been here for 7 years.

Skenes is the odds on favorite to win the DH spot but he is not the only horse in the race. He hit .314 in 2022 in the Mountain West Conference. It has also been reported that he has swing and miss in his game.
He has power, but we have guys with more power.

Beloso is a covid senior. Jay really felt Beloso made progress last year and he was going to start at DH before a freak injury. I will feel really bad for the guy if that is how his story ends. I'm hoping he can contribute something this year, even if is just one big moment.
Posted on 8/2/22 at 7:29 am to N2daWild
I think Beloso and Travinski may not be on the roster after fall. You’ve got Neal, Frey and Millazo at catcher. And you’ve got a plethora of option and first and DH
Posted on 8/2/22 at 7:35 am to Ampipe96
There was a rumor about Beloso not playing but Jay said he had confidence in Travinski recently. Travinski is probably safe, I don't know about Beloso, but I would hate it if he doesn't play.

If people were mature enough to have a non-bashing conversation, project could make his roster thread and we could talk about who plays where and who may not make the team. But it turns into people saying guys suck and shouldn’t be on the team (looking at you Jack D.)

why would we cut a covid senior who is essentially a free roster spot. Trust me Beloso will be on the team. cutting him doesnt help anything.

This guy gets it.
