Call me a glutton for punishment, but I rewatched the LSU-NC State game from 2015. We were up big at the half, and I found it interesting what Chuck and Kenny had to say about our team.

Feels like dejavu when you hear them saying the exact same thing analysts say about this team.

If you closed your eyes and just listened, you'd think they were talking about this year's team. It's amazing that so many things have changed in the last 6 years (coach, players, etc), but we seem to have some of the same issues.

Either way, I'm hoping for a much better outcome on Saturday than that game. Really want a shot at Michigan on Monday.

Who misses five straight free throws and goes the last 10:24 without a fricking field goal

And still loses by only one with :00.4 left

When Mickey missed that bunny right at the end, I collapsed on my living room floor.

One big difference I can tell you is Wade’s teams have always been decent free throw wise (maybe minus first year).

Jones teams were always awful.

No doubt. My brother and I were gonna drive to Pittsburgh the next day for the Nova game. Still pissed about it.

I was at that game. Jordan Mickey was suffering from anemia. He was EXHAUSTED. He could hardly get up and down the floor. Hence the reason he missed some layups and FTs at the end. He had been sick for weeks and they finally discovered it was anemia. I talked to Johnny Jones brother for about 20 min after the game.It was tough watching Ralston Turner, who transferred to State from LSU, out there knocking down 3s. Side note - that was Jim Hawthorne's final broadcast for LSU. I talked to him before the game. He was gracious as always. I miss hearing his voice.

Biggest difference between Will Wade and his predecessors.

Free throws have never been a problem with Wade and its why we could close so many close games down the stretch in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020

Anthony hickey was our starting point guard with two different head coaches and a CAREER 50% free throw shooter. How can you close out a game if your primary ball handler can only hit 1/2 his free throws?

Yea I remember hearing he was sick. So unfortunate that it came at that moment for him and the team. He played so great all year.

Ralston was awful that game and missed like five straight 3s trying to personally deliver the dagger for them to take the lead. He kept us in the game with his misses.

Louisville in the sweet 16 would’ve been beatable too for a 1st half LSU. Then in the elite 8 it would’ve been 7 seed mich st

Bad free throw shooting also would’ve gotten LSU beaten by Yale when they kept heaving bullshite threes in the final minute

Yeah pretty wild that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Having said that, our coach is so much better this time around. Also, I think Cam is going to get to the line like he used to and that is going to help us a ton.

That's a point I thought about today too. The SEC teams we played in the tourney last weekend are all so familiar with us that they knew what was coming. They'd been through it multiple times each.

This time, none of the teams we play in the NCAAT will know what we bring to the table in terms of familiarity with our athleticism. That could turn out to be a big advantage since we have three likely NBA players in our starting five, and a couple of emerging role players starting to carry their weight.

The emergence of Gaines and Hyatt to some extent have opened the door for Watford/Smart to shine, and now Cam is figuring out how to play when he isn't pressured again.

To me, that screams "deep run".

Nah Jim’s final game was the 2016 SEC tournament semifinal drubbing given to us by Texas A&M.

I was there. Never have I left a LSU game in such a foul mood in my life as I did that night. I was ready to kill

This is correct with the exception of that years baseball season, the 2016 football season, and the 2016 basketball season.

Would’ve been the same way had I gone to that one. Just brutal.
