put him back in the bullpen and let him throw 100, and see if that works in short spurts. I don't see a better alternative at the moment.
And bring him in after Cowan. Their approaches are perhaps different enough to throw hitters off (for a short while)

I think Shores gets one more start, at least. Remember, he really has not pitched a lot, so maybe he gets better as the season progresses.

Is he on Mounjaro or another GLP-1 shot like half the country?

You made a lot of good points.
Specifically if you throw Evans starting in the 7th Saturday, we probably win the series.
However, the argument against moving Cowan to Sunday, would be, if you use Cowan and Evan’s to secure victory in games 1 and 2. You could win the series and piece together Sunday with whatever is left.
It’s not ideal…. And Cowan would be better than whatever you have throwing on Sunday, but hopefully you have already secured the series.

I don’t know that we want to take 1 of our only 2 reliable relievers and move him up.
The Friday of Anderson/Cowan is good.
We need Guidry back and one other arm to step up then maybe we make the move.
If Anderson is holding the line or gets chased then go to another BP arm and save Cowan for another day possible Sunday start.

We are halfway through the season. Has he progressed in your opinion. How much longer can you realistically wait?

Give me Cowan for more innings. Cowan was a workhorse at Wofford and can handle the load. I think Shores would be fine in relief.
Well one thing for sure is that you won’t get Shores for multiple games.
Once you warmed him up he’s got to go in.
Doesn’t mean you are wrong but there’s definitely differences.

Well, Sunday was the 1st time he faced a decent SEC lineup. I agree that I think Jay wants to get him more work and thinks he can get away with it because we should be able outhit most teams in Game 3s. We scored 2 runs Sunday. It didn’t matter who we pitched or what order, that shite won’t cut it. But shite happens. Especially in baseball. That may be the least amount of runs we score in a Game 3 for the rest of the season.
But again, the order doesn’t really matter. We can’t get through a weekend with only 5 arms. Some dudes need to step up and become dependable pen arms who can throw strikes and get high leverage SEC outs. If not, the order they throw is basically moot.

We are in the 2nd weekend of SEC play.
We can wait a while.

Regardless you are still about at the halfway point as far as games played. I just don't have faith in Shores making it through SEC lineups more than twice even if his slider is finding the strike zone.

Shores will be fine, velocity isn’t the problem when coming back from a Tommy John, it’s control. Bet he’s lights out soon.
