So of course, no one is allowed to bitch about the fact that with the game most on the line, coaching staff abandoned that completely.

Ohhhhhhh.

That explains a lot.

You are content never accomplishing anything as long as you occasionally play spoiler to the ones that do.

I didn't think it was that bad. People are still frustrated about the QB situation, but overall it wasn't nearly as bad as after previous losses this year.

All within the Miles Era

Why not quote my entire point?

quote:

My only concern is the continuing inability to field a quality QB and subsequent passing game that flows from that for nearly the entire Miles era. As much as I love the guy, and as much as I'm willing to concede that having to kick Perriloux off the team in 2008/2009 really screwed LSU up at the position for a while, it does not change the fact that LSU's QB play and passing game has been abysmal except for a few anomalous seasons for 10 years.

The majority of seasons under Miles have resulted in poor passing offenses generally. The exceptions to that rule were 2005-2007 when he inherited Russell and Flynn and Mettenberger in 2012 though mostly in 2013. While Lee was playing well in 2011 early, it was nothing spectacular.

I'm eating lunch now, but I'm sure someone else could provide LSU's passing stats for each season since 2005 and show just how bad it has been outside of those three guys.

Like I said, I agree with you and love Les. But this shite of HAVING TO BE one dimensional is for the fricking birds. That in no way suggests I want to Texas Tech it up and start slinging it around. I'm perfectly happy to grind it like we do. But when we have to throw it, and that occasionally does happen, we need to look like it's not the first time we're attempting to do so as a unit.

We almost beat the best team in the country while completing 8 passes. Let that sit in. 8 passes. We beat Ole Miss while completing less than a dozen. What does that tell you about our chances next year with either Harris or Jennings at the helm, with receivers who have also got another year of experience?

That they have to improve? Jennings is the one player who has not improved at all. He's the same QB we saw in the Iowa game at the Capital One bowl. The team has made significant progress this season, except for QB play, and that part is very concerning. It is the one glaring weakness on this team that has to improve, but so far hasn't. With a good defense, we're going to be in every game we play, but QB play that is capable of completing > 50% of passes really shouldn't be too much to ask.

Yeah, the fans who hate to lose are the ones killing us. It has nothing to do with failures on the field.

The game was won, we had timeouts and plenty of time to go over the situation and COACH the players to the game situation. Our leaders chose not o do that...even tough "we're young".

No it's not satisfying. That's a losers mentality. We don't recruit top talent every year to ruin another team's season for a moral victory. The future always looks bright with Miles. But all we have seen is mediocre seasons and mediocre bowls outside of BCSCG in New Orleans. That's it. So for those into moral victories I say put on the black and gold for Vandy.

Here's what sucks. Either our QB plays awful and we have no passing attack, or our QB is putting the ball where it needs to be and that just happens to be the day all of our guys forget how to catch a football, and we have no passing attack. We just can't ever seem to get it together

We had 1 touchdown versus both Ole Miss and Alabama. They stopped us well enough to give their offense a legitimate shot at pulling their weight and winning the game. Ole Miss' just couldn't get it done. Our defense deserves credit for that, but we are far and away on the other side of the ball from being capable at competing at a championship level. Our rushing attack will be worse next year with the loss of significant OL personnel unless we can develop a passing attack worth respecting. I'll believe that when i see it.

Most figured 3-4 losses at the beginning of the year.

There are 2 games remaining. We could easily lose both. Also, while I'm being negative on this Monday...

Florida - One dropped pass in the end-zone and that game is an L.

Ole Miss - One stupid throw by Wallace and that game is OT. Another possible L.

Sorry, just trying to keep it real. (I'll mention that those 2 games the defense played awesome). I'm in the camp on most of the QB comments. It's obvious that position is LSU's achilles heal and I'm trying to be positive about the future of that position. I just don't see Jennings at this point being an SEC QB and I'm hoping Harris is as advertised.

We didn't run THAT well against Alabama. But, yeah, we moved the ball.

I only bitch about the offensive coaches...they are offensive.

Lets discuss the coaching though...the qb of the defense was Welter...they changed to Beckwith and what has happened? hmm maybe they need to try improving the offense.

It's crazy how different our defense was when Beckwith came out of the game Saturday. Like night and freaking day.

Yay! We made Bama nervous and completed 8...

Eight...??

EIGHT PASSES.

I can't believe how all of you people only see the good and refuse to acknowledge that this team could arguably be playoff ready this year if we had a passing attack that was competive in the FCS.

Our team isn't as young as us fans keep claiming. Sure there are some froshes in the mix, but we aren't as young as everyone keeps saying. And FWIW, "playing freshmen" isn't the same as starting freshman.

If this team is so freshman stacked, it must mean last year was a more veteran team. Yet, we also had 3 losses after the Bama game last season also.

this equates to being sorta pregnant. We didn't get it done. Dominating for all but the last 50 seconds does not give me a warm and fuzzy...sorry.
We played great for a while...and then we didn't.
