Why is this thread still here?

LSU out played Bama and should've won! That's how close we are to their talent! Not as close to their numbers of Nattys ... ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)

Just curious what you thought the #1 incentive is going forward for LSU to win a NC in football? Is the incentive for doing so any different than going 8-5? Program was just valued #5 in the country. AD that stated winning championships is not what its about but being in the hunt for them is. The majority of the fanbase is pleased with 8-10 wins. With coaching salaries and facility improvements we are still no closer to BAMA and are arguably losing ground. And that appears to be ok with a surpising number of fans and the AD. So what is the #1 incentive?

Point out anything in the post that is not fact other than the BAMA comment which is debatable. Just simply asking what you thought the #1 incentive was going forward. It is not an anti Miles post. Believe the admins would have yanked it quick if it was as they definitely favor pro Miles comments.

The same incentives Bama has for being number 1.

Which is what? I think what motovates them is the fear of losing, especially Saban. He turned lose his OC last year after a 1 loss regular season. So do you think the fear of losing motivates LSU football?

You asked a question about incentive but didn't give an opinion of your own as to what incentive LSU should have. Only to be a smart-arse about others not giving their opinion.
My suggestion is LSU hire the smartest posters/coaches/athletic directors of the rant to fix this shite storm of a program.

I beg to differ Sir but my incentive was referenced in the reply to the BAMA comment about having the same incentive as LSU. My apologies for not spelling it out clearer. I think the greates motivator to be the best in life is fear. Fear of losing should motivate Miles and LSU. I dont think that is Miles incentive/motivation at all. His admirable goal is to have a winning season and mentor players both in and off the field. Winning a championship is secondary to that. Very admirable quality to possess and endears him to many. Not sure his end game is a NC. The fear of losing i think has never motivated/driven him. Nor does it our AD. So to answer my original inquiry I dont think there is any incentive to win a NC at LSU in football. 10 win seasons and program value satisfy well enough and there is no problem with that. Most schools would take that in a heartbeat. My opinion is that losing does not eat at Miles like it does Saban because he puts other things (mentoring players, provding men with a solid foundation for life etc) on the same level as winning in his priorities. Admirable qualities indeed. Just my 0.02$ and it is worth much less than that.

I could see this. While Saban's legacy will clearly be his championships, Miles' might be the athletes he mentors.
Not saying he's not doing all he can for an extra $2 Mil a year, however.

Winning eats at Saban much less losing. Losing eats at Miles as much as any coach in the country. Saban takes everything to the extreme, no other coach in the country does what Saban does. Most of them have some sort of life outside of their job. He does not.
The Coaches/Team/Staff has every incentive to win that any program/players/coaches/staff of every school in the country has. They want to Win, that's the incentive.

So you shouldn't put those things on the same level as winning?

Never said that did I?? Just was asked to answer my own question and I did. Relax folks, the question was just to get the boards opinion.

You need incentive to,win? That's garbage
Posted on 12/26/14 at 7:39 pm to DIGGY
I'm not intentionally trying to be a douche like others on here, but your opinion makes me believe you would rather have a coach who is solely focused on winning and nothing else should matter. At least that's what I got out of it. Apologies if I misinterpreted.
