Smart had at least three steps on McClung based on set up when ball handed to Watford. No defenders between him and our basket. Proper inbounds was long pass to Smart, although I have my doubts that Watford is capable of that pass any middle schooler and above should be able to make. Easy layup. Instead he comes towards ball and into congestion.

How many inbounds mistakes before Wade coaches up this simple part of the game? We have failed on almost all critical inbounds plays this year it seems.

There seem to be a lot of simple concepts that Wade can't coach.

Wade was not to smart to flood that side of the court with our players (and so their players too) leaving little room for error. The time before that, we left it empty and Smart ran down in front of his man, caught it and that was that.

This is the problem, all of his inbounds plays are just single players running to the ball with no screens being set

That’s not a play.

I once sent a diagrammed inbounds play to Daddy Dale.

The play was a screen between smart and cam. Cam screened and rolled back. Tech switched on the screen. Watford was late and didn’t throw it far enough to cam left. By the time he threw it cam had to slow which allowed mcclung to catch up. Their was a play. It wasn’t run correct. Mostly by in bounder.

He does terrible with that, but I'd still rather one guy like Smart running and losing his player over having a bunch of guys barely moving around under the goal. It's a complete cluster and it killed us today.

What's even worse is that inbounds play came after a timeout, when we had plenty of time to draw something up.

Watford doesn’t SUCK. People need to stop that. He’s a sophomore who likely needs another year. He’s a 5 star. He makes mistakes. He has a shitty attitude at times and runs his mouth. But he is a WEAPON when he wants to be. He drives at 6 foot 9 and makes or he doesn’t. He is one of the best players in the league. He just needs one more year. How many 6 foot 9 players do you know who can handle the point and play off guard and rebound?

He needs to sit for a bit. He runs his mouth too much and he makes lazy passes. But he doesn’t “suck”. Louis Earl sucked. Ben Vgood sucked. This is a kid who needs more discipline. He would thrive on a lot of teams. Maybe this is a reflection on Wade. But Watford has to grow up.

The problem was Wade specifically told Watford to get the ball to Thomas. Tech knew this, Wade was screaming it the entire time and they just waited for Cam to break and they jumped it.

I think Smart needed to start as if he was going to run off a screen by Cam, but release long. I think he could have directly released long and not worried about a screen. He was the deepest on the court by 3 steps and had a head start towards his offensive end if he wanted it. McClung was cheating towards the inbound baseline and playing well off of him.

You have to spread the floor somehow and not get all 10 inside the arc. I haven’t seen it on tv, only in person, but it seems like we generated zero spacing.

Inbounding 101. Taught in middle school-

Never inbound the ball directly underneath your own basket. It’s better to launch on down the court and get lucky than inbound underneath your basket and be wrong. It was total collapse on all levels

We have ZERO inbound plays, and ZERO press offense. This is the poorest "coached" team in the SEC.....Wade's not the answer....trust me.

As is a lot of things they do, they are sloppy and don’t play with good fundamentals. Watch when screens are taking place, the ball handler rarely rubs/ gives no space for his man to get by the screener. They do a poor job of bodying up and blocking out properly. Smart gave up a 3 to his man and another bucket late in the game because he tried to help when he absolutely shouldn’t have. Watford gets a technical at a crucial point in the game and leads to 4 points for them, poor decision from a guy who is supposedly one of the leaders.

Watford just had his hair in the way.
Just didn’t see the defender.
