has there ever been a QB that was a 3 year starter that didn't start their final/senior season?

Jamie Howard split time with Herb Tyler his senior season.

That's what I was thinking.

Also, Rohan took over for Booty who started for a year, split time with Rohan and then just took the job from him. Any that was after Booty was All SEC one year.

No offense, but I don't believe that either of this is correct. Howard did not split time with Herb Tyler; instead, Tyler won the job after Howard went down for the season. I believe Melvin Hill even started a game before the Tigers settled on the shifty Tyler.

Also, Davey may well have beaten Booty out of the job in 2001, but Booty was no longer on the team at that time.

It should be mentioned that Bobby Moreaux and Pat Lyons alternated as QB in '75 and most of '76. Then a true Fr (Ensminger) started a game or two late '76 and then (along with David Woodley) completely supplanted them in '77 when Lyons/Moeraux were seniors.

Moreaux actually started some as an OLB (and did well) and Lyons became 3rd string QB.

I was at a game in Jackson Memorial vs. Ole Miss in maybe 1976, when they were beating our brains out in the second quarter, and Coach Mac replaced Lyons with the freshman Ensminger. He directed a TD drive and we trailed 21-7 at the half. We ended up winning 28-24 if my old memory is still working. There were 2 games back to back that we played OM in Jackson by some scheduling quirk. The next year we won something like 24-21.

jefferson isn't a three year starter. he started 2 games in 2008. and no, i doubt a 3 year starter has ever been replaced by a first year guy. one guy that deserves mentioning though is marcus randall. he started the second half of 2002 when mauck went down, was replaced as starter for the ole miss game that year by rick clausen, waited a year in 2003, began the season as starter in 2004, and was replaced again by jamarcus russell for 4 games, a rs freshman that year

That was in '77, in '76 LSU won 45-0.

In '77 we lost to Indiana, Kentucky, Bama & beat Florida, Oregon, Ole Miss, Miss. St.

Bobby is on the left. A very young Ace Midnight is in the middle. Tioga High School phenom, "Swift" Chris Williams (21 career interceptions at LSU) is on the right. Circa 1977, September or October.

I know, cool shades, huh?

But he might be the first LSU QB to start 4 bowl games.

In 1992, was it Jamie Howard who played in the Auburn game in which we trailed 27-6 only to rattle off 22 unanswered points to make it 28-27 late in the 4th Quarter?

LSU went on to lose 30-28, but this is one of the most exciting games I remember seeing as a kid.

This isn't saying much, because we sucked when I was a kid. If you were a young Tiger fan in 1989-1994 and didn't jump on the Notre Dame/Nebraska/Florida State bandwagon, you are a true fan.

This...JB took his talents to the NFL.

Yep.... because he was in Saban's shite house due to his on-field audible in the UAB loss... and .... because he had essentially become the backup and was unlikely to beat Rohan out the following season..... so he went pro... what a joke...LOL

Ace - thanks for correction and great photo of #'s 11 and 22.

I still recall Bobby knocking Fast Freddy (of OM) silly in the EZ at Miss. Memorial Stadium in '77.

I too remember Chris Williams - great CB.

There was a lot of musical chairs type of action going on between Booty & Davey, and then Mauck & Randall, and then Randall & Russell, and then Lee & Jefferson.

Same as it ever was. See also Woodley & Ensminger, Hodson & Guidry, and Howard & Tyler.

No problem. I am lifelong friends of Bobby's extended family, although I don't think I've seen him since we took that picture together. He's had a long career as an NCAA referee.

As far as Chris Williams - he's the only player from Tioga to ever receive a scholarship to play football for LSU.
