So. He wasn’t the complete back that Faulk was. Not even close.

This made me think and I did some digging. It's way more than you think. Schools with 3+ 4000+ yard career rushers include:
LSU
Miami (OH)
Michigan
Michigan St.
Minnesota
Navy
Nevada
Northern Illinois
Oklahoma St. (4)
Southern Miss.
Texas
Toledo (4)
Washington
West Virginia
Western Michigan
Wisconsin (6) (including two 6000+ rushers)

Alexander the Great, but yeah, I agree.

Now that's a cool story.

Oklahoma state has 4 and Barry Sanders isn’t one of them.
LSU, Texas, Michigan State, Minnesota, Navy, Wershington have 3.

Alexander is in the convo, along with Hilliard. Don't forget Billy Cannon, he played both ways and was an All SEC defensive back. Heisman winner, not too shabby.

Casanova would have made AA at back all 3 years he played on varsity. He played db and back.

Running back of the decade AND defensive back of the decade in all of college football.
Oh and he was the punter averaging 37 yards a punt which wasn’t bad for that time.
Who was better? Cannon hands down. You are measured against your peers.

Teams in canon’s era would be in a division with Milsaps today.

Whatever you say old man.
Kevin Faulk is still the best running back in LSU history.

Right?!?

Let Faulk play on that LSU team against those defenses and he probably rushes for 800 yards a game.

My favorite and I had 4 cousins play at LSU. The Kinchens and Hokie Gajan( married my cousin). Wish I could upvote this 1000 times.

I'm as big a fan of Dalton Hilliard as anyone. And he was a great, great back.
Returning to the Kevin Faulk discussion, LSU has had, in my mind 4 off-the-charts football players.
My definition of this is: A skill position player that you start the game not knowing where they will play. All you know is that they have to start the game and they will not be a down lineman on either side. And they have to play well.
Those 4 are Billy Cannon, Tommy Casanova, Kevin Faulk, and Tyrann Mathieu.
These 4, in particular, embody "football player" as a position.

You play in the era that you're born. You can't transplant players into different eras. Cannon has no peer in LSU football history. His jersey is the lone one that's been retired. Nuff said.

I have not clue what your point is, nor do I care, doesn’t change the fact that Faulk is the best running back, BUT Cannon’s jersey number is not the only one retired. The “nuff said” after being wrong was funny though
